U9 White vs City Leopards
We came back to earth after our blistering start last week. It didn’t help that our opponents played with an additional player in the first half and we had two players away. Thanks to Obi from under-8s for playing for us and having a great game and producing the best header of the game which the crowd appreciated. Rupert won the award for an outstanding defensive display. Tomoki was excellent and Reese, Lucy, Calvin and Brodie all tried hard.
We need to work on our passing, remember the wall is your best training partner and you don’t need much space to practice. With practice and better passing we will be able to spread out and play more accurate passes which will not only help our attack and goal-scoring opportunities but will also help our defence. It will allow us to be able to control the game by keeping the ball in our possession.

So here we were getting ready for this clash of the clans with United showing there Celtic clan roots in their strip and Hotspurs stemming back to an earlier time as their clan came from a little London Borough.
In the first five minutes it was evident that one team had turned on to play and it wasn’t Spurs, down 2 nil in the blink of an eye, however all credit to the girls they pegged one back with a stunning goal to Chelsea D and for the next 15 minutes it was more like a clash of the titans with some great football played. This was to no avail as the girls either ran out of puff, or belief in the last 10 minutes and allowed United 4 very easy goals going in to half time.
The second half was very similar, down an early goal to trail 7-1 then a real gutsy period for the next 15 and some easy goals to finish with for United. Thankyou Anna would have been many more without your defensive effort
Don’t be disheartened, yes you were playing a team with 3 state players and overall 6 rep players in it, they are only girls just like you and in those two periods of 15 minutes in each half you were competing toe to toe or clan to clan with them. We were very proud of those efforts and that is what we will build on in coming weeks.
We are proud of every one of you, we need to work a little on fitness as this was evident on the weekend but most of all we need to work on attitude, when we say be there at 1.45pm for a warm up that just doesn’t mean to warm up your body it is to get your mind and attitude working also. We don’t want girls getting changed at 1.45pm we want you all there ready to go with the days effort, get that mindset working and you will find your attitude on the park will change when your under pressure also. Ten minutes before the game was due to start we didn’t even have a full team to put on the field after having 14 put their hands up on Thursday.
We are down to play United again this coming week, however this could change as Melrose have just managed to enter a 14 Girls side as of last Friday. I am certain that we will see an improvement in our attitude and defence of United in this weekend’s fixture. Watch this space for details
Congratulations to our newest recruit, Lateisha Torney, well done for a first ever game, you took the ball off Chelsea Blissett twice in your first game and she is arguably the best 13 year old player in Southern NSW.
Lets all get to training at 5.50pm this week so we are ready to hit the park at 6 bells on the dot, talking to a minimum and listening on maximum. Lets get going Spurs
Finally a quick salutation to the referee, you had us all smiling on the sidelines with your handling of the coach, you better sleep with one eye open this week pal.

It was the clash of the Spurs clan and the United clan. We had to provide a ref but at least we could field a full clan plus a sub. We might have done better with some more elixir and there was not enough gold around to buy our way out of trouble. A lack of control of the ball lead to some problems and their accurate passing gave us problems as did some of their use of arms. We were down by 4 at half time but did improve in the second half to only give them a few chances which they got another 2. Some heat in the game and that ref tried his best but a lack of training is not helping our battles. Hopefully we get a bit more organized and have a battle log of some form for future games. Hope you make it back soon Kel.
Reserve Women V Benalla Won 4 – 0
A very frustrating game considering all the chances we created but the girls all played well together. A huge thankyou to all the girls who travelled to make up a team. Jess Briggs finished with 3 nice goals and Lisa Gios with 1. Simone and Emily W played well in midfield. Miki didn’t stop running and passed the ball well all day creating many chances. Kate was great in goals and at half time came on for a run and almost scored a couple of goals. The back line was as strong as ever, with Bec B, Bec S , Beth and Ash clearing the ball away every time. Great Work to all the girls, a fantastic team effort which was great to see everyone supporting each other, thanks girls and keep up the team work!! Look forward to training this week!!!
