U9 Hotspurs White vs Boomers
Thanks to Jack from U8, pictured, for helping out this week, Jack put in a good performance on field and also had a stint in goals. We were a little disorganised and got off to a slow start. Boomers had a super star girl that gave us a lot of problems. Reese played in goals in the first half and had the sun in his eyes which made it difficult for him to stop a few of their shoots. The second half was much better for us with the whole team contributing well. Brodie got a goal and Lachlan 4 or 5. I think we won 6 goals to 3. Lucy, Ashleigh, Tomoki, Reese and Brodie all played well. Lachlan had a great game and put in a very good team performance.
Under 11’s V Twin City
Under 12’s V Twin City Won 3 – 0
Under 12’s Girls V United Lost 0 – 4
A fantastic effort from the mighty Under 12 girls!!! A very exciting game as always, we created plenty of chances but unfortunately could not put it in the back of the net. Halle and Evie were great upfront and chased down every ball. Bella and Sarsha worked hard in the middle with Sarsha playing all over the field. Our defence are improving and held together well with Ciara, Mia, Laura and Erica clearing the ball well. Maggie and Lilly were consistent and Alesha was super brave as always pulling off some great saves!! Well done girls we are improving each week, Keep up the fantastic efforts!!!
Under 13’s V St Pats Won 5 – 2
Cracking game of fast paced soccer! Spurs moved the ball quickly and efficiently out of defence with many great passes put through for attackers to run onto.
First goal came from a Jack Baillie pass out of defence to Zac who centred the ball beautifully for Alex ‘Bainsey’ to finish off scoring a great goal.
A few minutes later Zac scored our second goal off a nice pass from Luke Dahl.
Ray, Anna and Charters were constantly stopping Twin Cities attacks sending the ball back into our attacking zone. Our third goal came from another superb cross from Zac resulting in an own goal.
Twin City then scored their first goal however the lively Ollie scored Spurs fourth goal minutes later.
Second half was a much tighter game with backs and mid-fielders vey busy. Scott from under 12s made some great saves.
Highlights of the second half included Zacs second goal and Rays 80 metre run up the sideline beating all challenges.
Another great team effort resulting in 5 – 2 win for Spurs.
Under 14’s Girls V Myrtleford Won 3 – 2
Under 16’s V Twin City Won 4 – 1
Under 17’s Girls V Twin City Won 6 – 1
Third’s V Twin City Lost 0 – 4
Over 35’s V St Pats FC Lost 1 – 6
It may not have been our world cup game, but we played a pretty high standard game according to the ref and a few unfortunate defensive lapses let the opposition score. Some great saves by Jim P helped but a lack of speed in the backline is always a problem. Great moves by all midfield players helped put the pressure on the opposition and the goal from Jim B came from world cup standard team play. If we keep this up and get a bit fitter who knows what we can do. Big game against new opposition this week.
Reserve Women V Twin City BYE
Reserves V Twin City Lost 0 – 6
A depleted reserves side struggled against the competition leaders. Down 0-5 at halftime the ressies played much better in the second half. James Patton, John Belgre and Michael Wright played well. Thanks to Sam Thorman, Goldy and Joel Mac for helping out with numbers.
Ladies V Twin City BYE
Seniors V Twin City Lost 1 – 3
The senior played reasonably well to give themselves a chance to get some points. Our opponents scored a couple a great goals which made our task harder. Drummo and Ryan Giles both had great games. Jack Percy, Max, Milky and Belgers all stepping up from Reserves did a great job for the team.
