Match Reports
Under 11’s V Myrtleford
The U/11s returned to their winning ways on Sunday with a (non competitive) win over Diamonds 2. They now have 18 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw from 20 games this year. (16 Club/4 Gala Day) Their goal difference is 118 (131/13) and every player has scored at least one goal. Every player has also spent some time as goal keeper as we don’t have a specialist GK. Against the other U/11 teams entered in the AWFA this year we would probably have the 2013 U/11 Championship stitched up (if they had one) and probably the 2013 U/11 Preseason Cup (if they had one)
Big Thankyou to all of the players from other age groups who have trained and/or played with us this year. Also thanks to the parents who have helped out and to the Hotspurs Club and all supporters. Special thanks to Eggy, Fiona and all of the U/12s players for the practice matches and other help during the year.
Two club games to go and an U/11s Gala Day at Diamonds on the 31st August. This very talented team has continued to impress all year and we look forward to the last games of the season, and to next year when they will be very competitive in the U/12 age group.
Go Hotspurs.

Under 12’s V Myrtleford Won 2 – 1
A hard fought game with Myrtleford scoring first in a seesawing game. Very even play with both teams having possession and the play moving from one end of the pitch to the other. Alec controlled the midfield and Manny was dependable in the backs supported by Harry and Miles. Aidan played well but the star player today was Scott in goals. Good come back in the second half to win.
Goals: Connor and Alec
Coach’s award: Scott
Under 12’s Girls V United
Under 13’s V Myrtleford Lost 1 – 3
Under 14’s Girls V Myrtleford Won 1 – 0
Under 16’s V Myrtleford Won 3 – 1
Under 17’s Girls V Myrtleford Draw 2 – 2
Third’s V Myrtleford Won 3 – 2
Over 35’s V United Lost 0 – 2
There was no goose in this game, just an iceman or twelve. We played a good formation today and only a couple of well executed goals got in our way. There was solid defence and organised play around the field and we welcomed Kel back for a guest appearance. First half was a bit of attack and lots of defence but we began the second with a bang, had the opposition all over the place and only an interesting ref call stopped us from scoring. A bit of verbal from the opposition had them rattled and abusing each other but we stayed out of it and played the game out well. For a team that doesn’t train we are doing OK. We have a night game coming up on 19th, see you there.
Reserve Women V Myrtleford BYE
Reserves V Myrtleford Lost 1 – 4
The reserves were affected by absentees and injury but started well when Tashi scored a great goal to take a 1-0 lead. However the boys couldn’t maintain their form and went down. Will Clifton played well and Jon Corkett, James and Mick Carroll also had good games. The boys need to win next week to play finals.
Ladies V Myrtleford Draw 1 – 1
Seniors V Myrtleford Draw 0 – 0
This was a great game for the spectators despite no goals being scored. The Spurs really took it up to the strong Myrtleford team and nearly snatched a win. Matthew Clements was brilliant in defence and Nick Musarra, Sam Harriss were very good. Both Eggys were outstanding despite both getting injured during the game. A terrific team effort by all.
