GALA DAY
Great to see all the little Spurs running around in the slosh at Alexandra Park last Saturday- Everyone seemed to have a good time.

Finals time
This Sunday is the start of the Cup Final games. Please pay close attention to the draw as games do not necessarily start at the normal kick-off times.
Remember all games are knock-out. If a game is drawn we play extra time and with the next goal winning. If no goals are scored in extra time – penalties are taken to decide the winner- Good luck to all great Spurs teams.
If your team wins this Sunday the teams will play in Myrtleford next SATURDAY or Wangaratta next SUNDAY depending on the cup draw.
More details next week.

Match Reports
Under 11’s V Wangaratta Draw 3 – 3
The U11s finished their season with a tough 3-3 draw against Wangaratta which could have gone either way.
Obviously the U11s are part of the AWFA SSF and no scores or ladders are kept by AWFA and no finals are held.
However this group of players has been converted to SSF for the last three years (U9s – 2011/U10s – 2012/U11s – 2013) and I hope that next years U12s will be 11v11 on a full pitch with a Championship and Cup up for grabs.
I have listed (below) the U11s results as I think they deserve recognition for their super 2013 season together.
We have played 22 games this year including 18 Sunday Club games and 4 Gala Day games.
Hotspurs U11s finished the season with 19 wins, two draws and one loss.
Their goal difference is 124 (141-17) showing their ability to score goals and limit the goal scoring of the opposition.
This was a great result as all of our GK’s were volunteers and everyone in the team had a go in goals during the year.
We also rotated all of our players giving everyone both the opportunity to score goals and to learn to play a midfield and more defensive role.
Our goal scorers this year were as follows.
Kye – 33 (playing mostly forward)
Tom – 18, Baxter – 16 and Josh – 16 (all playing mostly in the midfield) Aidan – 13. Jaspa – 10, Harry – 9, Jarrod – 7, Wendell – 6, and Marcus – 4 (all playing mostly back with some time in the midfield and forward) *Harry and Aidan were also our goal keepers more often than most.
Scott and Naresh also scored during the season.
Others were Sarsha – 2, Lachlan – 3 (U9s) and we had 2 ‘own goals’.
We were also given the opportunity in the year to represent the AWFA at the U11s Branch Titles Gala Day in Wagga. Ten of our Hotspurs U11s were in this team (joined by an U11 player from Albury City and another from Melrose). Playing against actual representative teams we were able to win two games by a goal (Wagga Wagga and Southern Slopes) and lost two games by a goal to the Griffith Teams. This was a great day and all players and parents should appreciate what a wonderful opportunity this was to play football at representative level.
I have really enjoyed my time coaching at Hotspurs in 2012 and 2013 and would like to thank everyone for the opportunity.
Good luck to all the Hotspurs teams in the the finals this year.
GO HOTSPURS.

Under 12’s V Wangaratta Lost 0 – 2
A very close, hard fought game. Scott was superb in goals and pulled off some magnificent saves. Alec controlled the midfield and Memphis and Manny were dependable in the back line. A fine effort by all boys and a great season to finish up as league runners-up. Too many good players today to pick player of the match.
Under 12’s Girls V Albury City Lost 3 – 5
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!! This is definitely the word to describe the mighty under 12 hotspurs girls and their efforts. The girls all played well and held their positions and shape which has improved every week, game by game. We were 3 nil down at half time, but the girls pulled together and came back to be in the game at 4-3. The excitement from the sidelines was building. Each and everyone of the girls played a great game, and every opposition we play comments on how much we have improved and what a team they will be in the future together.
Well Done girls, keep up the great work and look out finals!!!
Under 13’s V Wangaratta Won 2 – 1
What an exciting and strange game for the last of the season! From an absent referee, (A big thank you to Andrew for taking this [at times] difficult role on.) different playing field, to Raymond going AWOL not once but twice from goals! and mud beauty treatments during play.(Good multi-tasking Anna!) Despite good play in the first half from Cody and Jack and some amazing nifty footwork from Zac, great attempts at goal and passing from everyone, Wang scored the first goal.
Fifteen minutes later Oliver was tripped and Zac was granted the free kick….What a terrific goal! Tension mounted in the second half; long kicks aplenty, Casper became airborne and Charters kicked the second and winning goal! ALL HAIL HOTSPURS!
Under 14’s Girls V Wangaratta Won 1 – 0
I don’t know about hail from the sky, it was more like hail a cab or a lift as the girls turned up to Lambert Park only to find due to poor ground conditions they had been hunted to another ground like last week. A scramble over to Waites Park for their upcoming clash with Wangaratta and then game on.
The game started at a frenetic pace and the opposition defence were kept on their toes by Chelsea D and Yvette upfront hailing chances in from all over, their exploits were well supported by our ever present midfield of Bethany, Shelby, Mary, Chelsea C and Tarsha, with Tarsha having one of her best games of the year.
The ever present backline of Isabella, Sammi, Nicole, Lateisha and Bridie having a run as Anna played in goals due to feeling ill, hardly gave Wangaratta a sniff. Spurs were dominant in the first half with no reward on the goal sheet.
Mid way through the second half the girls experienced their normal lapse in intensity and it looked like for a while that Wang were going to get on top of us, however some great saves by Bridie back in goals again and some clever defensive work by Nicole and Anna saw the girls get back on top again, some stunning running work by Bethany on the left side led to our only goal with Chelsea D scoring a great team goal only to end up on her butt again, as long as they keep going in you can sit down after scoring all the time.
Thanks to Jenny P for stepping in as manager, we hope Sally and Carl enjoying their frolic in the white stuff up on the big hill.
My personal thanks to Roy for looking after the team completely whilst I was away in Italy, for a guy who wasn’t going to coach this year you certainly have been busy pal. Thanks
Under 16’s V Wangaratta Lost 1 – 8
Under 17’s Girls V Wangaratta BYE
Third’s V Wangaratta Draw 1 – 1
Over 35’s V Diamonds Draw 1 – 1
A fair result as both teams had chances and the ball moved from end to end quite well. Luckily it was a small pitch and we had a couple of subs. Our goal came in the first half thanks to Jim Cannons endeavour after a cross was put in by Alex. Lots of positive talk and everyone hail and hearty at half time. The second half was much of the same but Diamonds managed to score. We have a winnable game in the quarters if we play good formation as United get rattled easily. Go SPURS !!!
Reserve Women V Wangaratta Lost 0 – 1
A tough game for the reserve ladies heading into finals but it was fantastic to have a full team and subs!!! The girls were a little slow to start on a heavy pitch with Bec S having an awesome game in goals with a strong defence supporting her all game. In the last 10 minutes Wang scored an absolute cracking goal from almost half way to take the win. Hopefully this week we can all re focus and be ready for finals. Cmon reserve ladies!!
Reserves V Wangaratta Won 3 – 0
The Ressies are finals bound after a good performance last Sunday. The team combined really well to win easily. Ben Porta stood out with two goals
but the defence of Jack Percy, Cobra, James Nichols and Mick Carroll played solidly to keep a clean sheet. Will Clifton and Irish also played strongly.
Ladies V St Pats FC
Seniors V Wangaratta Won 4 – 1
The senior men kept up their good recent form (four wins and a draw in the last six games) to beat Wang comprehensively. Michael Wright played really well in his first senior game and he had plenty of mates with Tashi, Clemo and Sam Harris also having great games. This was Robert Tuksar’s last senior game and he was delighted to finish with a win. The seniors have unfortunately missed the cup finals but on recent form they would have been very competitive this year.
