The women’s teams need to be congratulated on the work they put into last Sundays “Women in Football” day. It is a shame the weather was so poor. The are all a credit to Albury Hotspurs and they make an exceptional contribution to our great club.

Match reports
Hotspurs Black U8 v Boomers
It was a terrific team effort with a good spread of goal kickers.
Players were rotated around the pitch and played their respective roles both up in attack and down back.
It was great to see the team learning to call each other’s names out loud when asking for the ball.

Hotspurs Gold U8 v Albury City Blue
With two our players, Sam and Isla and Coach, Felix away, we were lucky enough to have Riley from U7 Gold fill in for us on the day. It was the first time that the group played together as a team as well as for some meeting each other for the first time. The team played well in their new positions and dominated very well all game. Both Mitchel and Poppy didn’t see much of the ball when in goals, but when they did they defended the goal very well. Both Zavier and Riley defended quite well in the backline not letting the ball get passed them. There was a fair few hat tricks with goals going to Elisha, Ryan, Lenny and Mitchel and Alice was great, both up front and in the middle of the park with many goal assists. All in all it was a fantastic game by the kids who all played and passed the ball very well.
Best on Ground votes this week go to Elisha who receives the Wendy’s award and the Intencity awards go to Ryan and Lenny. Come and collect your awards at training this week.
Keep up the good work guys!
Under 11s v Boomers Lost 1 – 2
Well we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again!
Having 80% of possession in the first half and Boomers only venturing into our defensive half, twice we still could not put the ball either side of their keeper who made easy work of our shots straight at him. The second half we did not have it all our own way and when Boomers got it forward a deflected shot went into the corner. Their second came with another counter and Boomers scored a good goal. Our team, parents and spectators could not believe our luck. The kids kept battling and we pulled one back with Tomoki hitting the back of the net but with only a few minutes remaining there was no time to equailise.
Don’t feel bad kids, Arsenal lost 0 – 1 to Swansea in EPL having 68% possesion and 15 shots to Swansea’s 5.
I have petitioned for a new match ball with the club president, ours has bad mojo and new luck will come with new match ball just you wait and see.
This week’s Soden’s award goes to Jay.
Oh Sam I am,
I do not like Boomers plan
I do not like their two goal scam
we tried to score from here and there
would could not score from any where
Would you could from the right
we could not would not from the right
from the left you might
we could not from the left
and not from the right
We do not like Boomers plan
we do not like their 2 goal scam
we tried in the wind and we tried in the rain
we tried and we tried and we tried again
Finally we did finally we scored
from right in front Tomoki scored
but we could not beat Boomers plan
we could not beat their two goal scam
Under 12s v Boomers Won 6 – 1
The twelve boys won their fourth successive match with another excellent display of football skills. The team played really well in difficult conditions. Three of our goal scorers came from the elevens – this was much to the delight of their coach Kelvin Davies. Brodie Davies, Dawson Fuller, Ava Tuksar all scored great goals. Ian Howson & Jonathon Gillard also from the elevens played very well too. Special mention to our keeper Kristian Shipard and defender Sanjay Breheny who were outstanding on Sunday.

Reserve Women Black v Reserve Women Gold Won 2 – 1
On a very wet Mothers Day both reserve womens teams turned up in Pink to support women in football. The black played gold in a mighty spurs v spurs battle. A great goal was scored by Fi after a beautiful corner from Mia. Gios battled hard all day creating many chances with Mia absolutely everywhere. It was great to have Jules back in the team and in goals. A huge effort by all the girls with great sportsmanship and teamwork displayed by all, Jess finished a nice goal to win the game 2-1. Keep up the great team work girls!!
Reserves v Boomers Lost 4 – 6
The Ressies lost a high scoring shootout on Sunday. The game was lost in the first half where defensive errors found us down 1-4 at halftime. The team did well to get back to 4-5 but we gave our opponents too much start. Durga and Zac Brodie had strong games with Brendan Edwards playing well in the forward line while scoring from 50 metres out with a Benalla Bomb !
Ladies v Boomers Lost 0 – 6
Our Hotspurs senior ladies went into the match on Sunday against SS&A with positive minds despite them being one of the top teams. The wet weather kept the ball close to the ground and the wind made it challenging to predict. We fought hard although a couple of their speedy players got through our strong backline. Our midfield were constantly supporting the defenders and the strikers had a couple of shots on goal. Overall, many lessons learned and great practice for the future! Well done to Jamie Ryan for winning best on field, you always give 110% and we thank you for that!
Seniors v Boomers Lost 1 – 2
The Senior Men went close to getting their first point in a while but they need to play more consistently over the whole game. It was a better performance on recent games with Eggy and John Cochrane playing well in midfield. It was good to have Matt Townsend back after injury and he had a solid game. Indra, Westo and Paul did a solid job in defence. Joel McDonough was very good in goals again. Mark Belgre scored a good goal with eight minutes to go but the team just could not get the equaliser.
