MiniRoos update
It seems to be that time again, Ground duty! I would really appreciate your help in setting up and packing up of the goals and posts this Saturday. In order for this to run smoothly and not be left to a certain few I thought everybody could pitch in. That means I have allocated a roster for all the coaches and any parents that can help to either set up or pack up.
Set up (required at 11:30am)
Sarsha & Bella (U6’s) – set up of small field pop up goals.
Ian, Ian, Brad & Felix (U8’s)- set up of quarter fields with posts and cones.
After the U7’s games – John, Paul, Beth & Taneesha (U7’s) pack up pop up goals and place in the shipping container.
After the U9’s games – Rob & Shaun (U9’s) move the posts from the quarter fields and convert them into half fields ready for the U10’s.
After the U10’s games – Tim & Justin (U10’s) could you collect all posts and any cones and place in the shipping container.
I will be there all day to help everyone.
If everyone can do their bit this should run smoothly. Any problems please let me know.
Thanks Mia

Match reports
Under 11s V Diamonds Draw 2 – 2
Another very good team performance with all players contributing. Tomoki’s driving run and shot that was saved by their goalkeeper, only for it rebound back for him to smash it into the back of the net, put us ahead early in the first half. Diamonds soon hit back with two quick goals of their own and we were chasing the game. Jack was so close to equalising, hitting the upright and watched in disbelief as the ball rebounded along the goal line before Diamonds cleared it.
We dominated the second half and finally, from another saved shot, Jay reacted quickly and poked in the equaliser. Unfortunately we were unable to get the winning goal, not from a lack of trying as the team showed their passion and commitment as they strove to get the winner in the last seconds of the match.
Soden’s awards go to Jay and Reese.
Sportspower award goes to Dawson.
Under 12s V Diamonds Won 1 – 0
Under 12s Girls V Diamonds Draw 1 – 1
A good game from the girls with Diamonds scoring early the girls worked hard and dominated the play. The defenders were strong with Lucy being first to the ball every time. After half time the girls managed to score, Scarlet and Mattea marked their best player and did a great job, Halle and Ava worked hard in the midfield and the girls upfront did a great job. It was great to welcome the girls back who have been away for a few weeks, Keep up the great work!!
Awards to Lucy and Bella G.
Under 13s V Diamonds Draw 0 – 0
Excellent weather brought on a brilliant match for the Under 13’s. The game started with a very fast pace and both Diamond’s and Spur’s were on the attack early but the defensive pressure applied by both teams denied either a clear shot at goal. Early in the first half Will Haberfield collided with an opponent and went down which raised concerns but he was soon back on his feet. Roy rung in a few line up changes later in the half which created some excellent combined play between Leo, Jack, Toby, Harry and Josh however no matter how often they attacked forward they just couldn’t get a clear opportunity to score. With a score line on nil all at half time it was evident the game would be close.
The second half saw more of the same defensive pressure applied by both sides with Diamonds falling foul to the offside rule on several occasions. Hotspur’s continued to combine well and although they have had much success this season, this was by far the best team effort. Every single, individual player was getting involved, getting some of the ball and doing their part to contribute. Will Haba was still being kept extremely busy in goals, Noah was active on the wing, Sasha, Bella and Laura were active in the centre and Josh was like Salt, “found in everything”. Diamond’s player number 6 was throwing himself at everything and everyone. Still nothing could break the deadlock. Hotspur’s attacked time and again but then the little Dynamo Leo was involved in a collision and had to be carried off with an ankle injury. Down to the dying minutes of the game and whichever team scored would go home the winners. Momentum changed and Diamond’s were constantly on the attack. That is when Haba took a brilliant catch in the goal mouth, to prevent what could have been a winning goal.
Whilst the result was nil all, it was an amazing all round team performance which gave coach Roy a massive challenge to pick a player to give awards. After consideration the awards were given to Leo for his courageous play and to Sasha for her outstanding performance.
Under 14s V Diamonds BYE
Under 14s Girls V Diamonds Lost 0 – 3
A fantastic game from the girls who were playing the top team, A very physical team who towered over our girls but the Spurs didn’t give up and went into the half nil all. Alesha had an awesome half and then had to leave. Bella was amazing in goals pulling off some unbelievable saves and even a penalty!! A solid team effort a huge effort to the 12 girls who back up every week to support the 14 girls every week.
Awards to: Bella and Sarsha.
Under 16s V Diamonds Won 2 – 0
The boys started off hot to trot despite the frost which coated the ground.
The icicles melted and the white stuff vanished in the face of some good urgency and pressure on the opposition.
Spurs put together some great passages of play and some accurate passing saw a (frustrating) flurry of shots on goal.
The importance of following the ball in all the way to the keeper was shown with goals to both Ben and Josh from loose balls.
The second half wasn’t quite as one sided. Ray pulled off some good saves to keep a clean sheet. Well done team.
Thirds V Diamonds Lost 0 – 3
Over 35s V Diamonds Lost 1 – 3
Thankfully there were no icicles around due to our late start but that still meant we took the field with only 10 men and two of those were hobbling more than normal. Welcome to Jason Smith for his first game and what an interesting one it was with two of the most unusual penalties given this season. We got the first which Jim Brodie put away and they got the second. Their second goal was very lucky with a full blooded clearance hitting a guy in the guts and he still had it drop in front of him to put away. We were always in this game and only let a third in when we tired late in the second half. Well done guys, your reward is Bonetti’s this Sunday.
Reserve Women Gold V Diamonds Lost 1 – 4
A very good game from the reserve ladies with only 11 players available the girls dominated the play and were passing the ball around extremely well, Diamonds used their speed upfront and broke away to score in a couple of one on one with the keeper. Our defender stood up and were definitely players of the day with Molly, Danny, Beck and Kelly doing well. A fantastic team effort and great reward for Alex to get on the board after some nice passing from Jess, Carissa and KT upfront. Mia and Claire held the midfield well and chased hard all game. A fantastic team effort we can only keep getting stronger together. Well Done girls, the score does not reflect the game!!
Reserve Women Black V BYE
Reserves V Diamonds Lost 0 – 10
The Ressies played a good first half to be down by two at the break. The team struggled after halftime against a strong team. Injuries did not help and the team made a number of simple errors which were punished by our opponents. Zac Brodie , Caleb Parker and Tim Prince played well and never gave up.
Ladies V Diamonds Lost 2 – 8
Seniors V Diamonds Lost 2 – 4
The Seniors were in this game for a long way but our opponents were able to finish some late chances to take the win. Jon Cochrane and Mick Corkett were good in the midfield while Indra and Brendan Dalrymple had good defensive games. Matt Townsend and Indra Poudel scored for Spurs.
