Thank you Melrose FC – Transfer of games last Sunday
As all club members are aware Spurs were forced to move games to Melrose Park last Sunday. Melrose kindly allowed us to use their canteen facilities to avoid a complete financial disaster for our club. Thank you also to Hotspurs canteen staff Greg Harrison, Peter O’Riordan, Amanda Heath and Sandy Belgre (and Rachel Baker) who managed the change and impressed all with the quality of their canteen.

Thursday night Diamonds 1-all draw A big couple of weeks for the girls who played a night game against diamonds on Thursday, the game was very even with the spurs girls having the possession but just could not score on a very cold wet night, In the second half Halle scored a great goal beating the diamond defender after a nice assist from Daisy. Lil had a great game in goals and Brooke was strong in defence. Award to: Brooke. Thankyou to the parents for your support on a cold night as well as on the weekend to allow the girls to have a run against Melrose even though Melrose forfeited. Thanks Roy for running the lines again!!

A great start for the Under 14 girls who passed the ball well and created some good chances. Our defenders held up Melrose and we finished our chances Justine and Bella got us on the board first and then Sarsha scored a beautiful goal from the corner. Well Done girls a great team effort!! Awards to: Laura, Alesha and Tynecia who was absolutely awesome in goals!!
Under 16s v Melrose FC Lost 0 – 6
Thirds v Melrose FC Lost 0 – 2
Over 35s v Melrose FC Lost 0 – 6
Maybe it was the pizza from last weekend or just the fact we started with ten, no sorry eleven and then got to twelve. The pitch was soggy but better than our home ground and John Irvine did his usual saves to keep the scoreline respectable. We put some patches together quite well but these were too few and we spent a lot of time defending. At two down on halftime we looked OK but ran out of steam as the game progressed. Big game coming up soon fellas !!!
Reserve Women Gold v Melrose FC Lost 0 – 3
I feel like we say this all the time but the score line does not reflect the game!! On a very wet, cold, muddy morning 9 Ladies took to the field. The girls passed the ball well and used our wings to create many opportunities. All the girls played a great game and never gave up it was commitment until the end but we couldn’t match their forwards speed, overall a solid team effort. Well Done girls, Keep Working. Thanks to Robert for running the line, we appreciated it!!
Reserve Women Black BYE
Reserves v Melrose FC Lost 1 – 5
Ladies v Melrose FC Lost 1 – 10
Senior ladies played a strong game despite the wet and muddy conditions, unfortunately luck was against us this time around. The game started strong with the back line holding tough, and many amazing saves from goal keeper Emily Weavers however Melrose had some very quick attackers who proved too fast for our defenders scoring 5 in the first half. Luckily Hotspurs got one back from a lovely goal by Lily through the goal keepers legs after a beautiful cross from Jess. We went into the second half with a determined attitude and some new strategies which certainly paid off as we played a much tighter game. Again, luck was against us though as Melrose got another 5 in. Special mentions to our super midfielder Jamie and winger Imogen for some amazing moves, also some beautiful clearances from Tayla in the back line. Congratulations to Lily on her goal as this was her last game of the season! We wish her all the best in America and will certainly miss her!!
