Match reports
Under 6 Black
The Under 6 Black team have improved out of sight. Rollo, and Macca chase the ball and defend the goals like nothing else. Henry ducks and weaves around players to score some great goals. Our smiling soccer girls Rhiannon and Lily had some great passes to our team, and chased every ball. I have enjoyed coaching this amazing team, and seeing them improve every week. I hope they have had fun, I’m looking forward to Gala day. I hope to see you all playing soccer next year. Bella
Under 11s v St Pats Won 4 – 0
Well done team finishing the season with a win. Looking forward to the finals where I know we have as good a chance as any team in the finals to go all the way and win the cup!
Under 12s v St Pats Lost 1 – 2
Under 12s Girls v United Lost 1 – 5
Under 13s v St Pats Lost 0 – 1
Under 14s v St Pats Won 2 – 0
Under 14s Girls v St Pats Won 12 – 0
A very solid game from the Under 14 girls to finish of the last round before finals. The girls passed the ball well and finished some great chances. Our defence were all strong and didn’t let anything through. The forwards created some great chances. A great team effort overall. Awards to: Alesha, Aimee and Laura(who scored her first goal on her birthday!!) Thanks to Dee and Roy for stepping in and coaching the 12 and 14 girls over the weekend.
Under 16s v St Pats Won 5 – 3
After two early goals to St Pats, Zac’s efforts paid off by scoring our first goal , with help from Luke.
A motivational pep talk from ‘ ashen faced ‘ John at half time saw the team re-focus and perform.
The Zac / Luke duo created another goal. Thanks to Luke’s tenacious, persistent weaving he was rewarded with the third goal! The Hotspurs were re-energized !
St. Pats equalizing goal left us worried but Felix enabled Anna to secure our fourth! An own goal from St Pats! We did indeed rise from the ashes; the bleak and lacklustre first half now forgotten.
Third’s v St Pats Lost 2 – 3
Over 35s v St Pats Lost 1 – 9
This was no pre finals game, it was pretty much a disaster. After a loose start to the first half we played OK and while there were some tight moments we handled it and were only down by two goals at half time. We survived for fifteen minutes in the second half and then the wheels fell off. A game to put behind us and let us be prepared for the finals.
Reserve Women Gold v St Pats Won 2 – 0
Well a fantastic result to the last round of the season, winning our last 3 games a goal that was set by our super coach Fi! Well done ladies we secured and finished in the Top 3!! Be very proud of one another. Well with only 11 players and carrying some injuries into the game, we managed an awesome result 2 nil win against a frustrated and a lil physical St Pats. We had a lot of play in the first half with a congested attacking area but in the second half we had more space to create some brilliant moves and also created great shape and passing.
Best on ground was Carissa and another solid game from Kt providing support across the field. Narelle did well to play the holding position up front and providing some fantastic support play to create some chances up front. Goals to Jess and Kt. Another solid effort by our defence team and Julz pulling off a couple of saves (tho didn’t see much of the ball). Take care of those injuries and hope to see you at training this week!! Keep up the amazing work and bring on the finals series and of course St Pats again!
Be great to see club members get behind the only senior team in the finals and support the ladies in reaching that goal of a grand final! Go Spurs!!
Reserve Women Black v United Lost 1 – 6
Reserves v St Pats Won 4 – 3
The Ressies won for the second consecutive week with another good performance. The defence of Ethan Rimmer, Zac Brodie, Karl Monteiro, Angus Mac and Tim Prince played really well. Will Heath and Durga were also excellent in midfield. Durga scored twice with Milky getting the other goals. Well done to the Reserves. Best wishes to long term player Karl Montiero who is moving on next year.
Ladies v St Pats Lost 0 – 7
Seniors v St Pats Draw 2 – 2
The seniors played well this week and probably had enough chances to win this game. Paul Kinning and Mark Belgre were solid in defence. Joe and Mickett again played good games. Indra (junior) was also dangerous up front with Eggy and Brendan supporting him well. Indra and Eggy scored the goals. The seniors finished the year well with 10 points from the last twelve. Good luck to Chris Maher who played his last game for Spurs on Sunday and is moving to Hobart next year.
