U14 girls bye Practice match against Diamonds
The girls did a fantastic job on a very hot afternoon! We passed the ball well and created many scoring opportunities. Our defence was as strong as ever. We welcome Mim and Kate who played their first games for the club. Keep up the great work girls and thanks to all the Under 12 girls for providing extra legs.
U16s v Heart won 13-0
It was a good start to the 2016 season for the Hotspurs Under 16s team. They worked together well in the relative cool of the morning to comprehensively defeat a limited opposition and take the points. Having scored six goals in the first-half, they received a stern talking-to from coach John for not making the most of their opportunities … and promptly went out and scored another seven goals. Most of the team from last year have stayed on and they have been joined by about six under-15 players. Thanks to John Belgre and Joel McDonough for coaching. All the best for a great season.
Div 3 Men v Heart 3-0 (won by forfeit)
Reserves Men v Heart Drew 0-0
The Ressies got a draw but in reality they had many chances to win this game. The defence played really well with Ray, Doug and Caleb playing strongly at the back. Irish and Viders were productive in midfield while Ryan Smith was good up forward. We need to take our opportunities if we are to win games.
Reserve Ladies v Heart won 6-1
A great start to the season on a very hot day. The girls started a little slowly but then dominated the game. At half-time we were 1-all but then we over ran Heart. Congratulations to Kate who played her first game and did an awesome job and to Tynecia who played her first reserve ladies game. Jess Briggs was awesome up front with Anna and combined well to score some nice goals. Skip and Gios played the wings well and created many scoring chances for the team. Kt held the centre well with Shelby and our defence was as strong as ever with Nat, Snowy, Kendall and Miranda holding it all together. A huge thank you to the senior players for their support today – a great team effort! Keep it up girls. Goals to Anna x 3, Jess B x 2 and Skippy.
Thanks also to Jim for being our linesman!
Senior Men v Heart won 2-1
It was great for the seniors to win first up. The team started well with goals from Mitch Ryan and Matt Townsend in the first 20 minutes. It was very hard work in the heat, particularly as our opponents pushed strongly to get a draw. A terrific game from Joel McDonough in goals was a highlight. Mark Belgre and Paul Kinning also had top games. Congratulations to Luke Dahl who came on for his senior debut with Spurs.
