U11s v Diamonds 4-1 won
Under 12 girls v Diamonds 0-3 lost
A big ask for the girls today with only 9 players on the large field!! For several girls this was their very first game of soccer Georgia and Sienna did an awesome job!! For others it was their first Under 12 game Tahlia A and Alex did really well. We pulled together and did a really good job. The girls chased every ball and Diamonds only scored in the last minute of the first half off a deflection into goals and in the last minute of the second half as well a cracking half way shot. Our defence were very solid with Paige, Katie and Brooke combining well and our super keeper Lil. Mattea was absolutely everywhere. The girls were unlucky not to score and for their first game together as a team they played well, lots to keep working on together. Thanks to Jack for running the line and to Craig Underhill for being our ref. Keep it up girls.
U12s v Diamonds 0-6 lost
Firstly the team and I would like to welcome Josh to the side who had a good hit out in his for game for the club.
One nil at half time and we had our chances to score as they did also in a very even first half. The second half we lost our shape and got caught out of position and Diamonds capitalised on our errors. The score is very bad on paper but we did play some good football at times and every worked hard to do their best for the team. Diamonds hit three unstoppable shots into the top corner given Ian no chance. Ian had a great game in goals, making many excellent saves.

U16s v Diamonds 4-1 won
Thirds v Diamonds 2-0 won
O35s v Diamonds 1-2 lost
The Over 35s wish to welcome back a few of the old Hotspurs boys this year, who are pulling on the boots again after some time off & we also welcome some new faces to the team & club.
In our first real test of the season after our forfeited win/friendly last week we played with confidence & aplomb against a strong Diamonds side. Down 1-0 after around 20 minutes we rallied with a quick goal to even the scores but some lazy marking from a corner towards the end of the half saw the opposition lead us 2-1 into the break. Our old enemy fatigue struck us towards the middle of the second half & with no substitutions available we somehow still managed to keep a solid defence line to hold them out.
We also had our chances up front to score with some fine work in the midfield to set up our attack a number of times but we could not find the back of the net.
Everybody put in 100% & you can’t ask for more than that. We were unlucky not to come away with at least a point from the game.
Reserve Ladies 2-6 lost
A very solid game from the reserve ladies today. We welcomed Sophie and Mel who played their first game for the club and also welcomed back Sara and Mikaela to the game and club. Our defence was held together by Claire and Kelly who were awesome and supported by Mirnada, Dani and Tynecia, but Diamonds were just so quick in the midfield and put away some very nice goals. Skippy and Gios played hard on the wings and chased all day and KT and Kate did a great job in the midfield. Up front Weavers and Jess A were great and both finished with nice goals. The more we play together and start to gel the stronger we will be as the season goes on but super proud of the girls effort and team work overall. Thanks to Jim P for being the ref and to Clint our super linesman we welcome you back, great job girls!!
Reserve Men v Diamonds 2-2 Draw
The Ressies did very well considering their poor start which found them down by two goals after just twenty minutes play. The team finished very strongly and were unlucky not to grab a win. There were a number of players who played really well including Chris Vidovic, James Shannon and Ryan Smith. Milky scored an important goal just before halftime and Zac Brodie was terrific in defence.
Senior Ladies v Diamonds 0-4 lost
Senior Men v Diamonds 3-1 win
It is great to see the seniors start the year with two wins. The team performed well after conceding the first goal. The defence was excellent with Indra and Mark Belgre playing top games. Jon Cochrane and James Eggleston (who scored twice) were also in top form.
The long pre-season is paying dividends at present – lets keep it going !
