Match Reports
U16s v Twin City won 2-0
The Spurs pulled out a win this morning though not without a few nail-biting moments. It was a see-sawing game with the teams taking turns at controlling the play. With several of our regular midfield players unavailable the Spurs took their time to settle into the altered structure and at half-time the score was still nil all. The second half saw the team make their move and two of many shots on goal made it into the back of the net courtesy of Zac and Denzel respectively. The backline was solid throughout the game, goalie Scott let nothing past him, and the overall result was a good reflection of the match.
O35s v Twin City Lost 1-4
This new kid on the block was an unfamiliar opponent for us. We found out the hard way early, with them scoring within the first 5 minutes. A corner saw them go 2 up from an unmarked player to head the ball home. We clawed 1 goal back to be still in the game at 1-2 down at the break. There were some great passages of play from Spurs in both halves as we created plenty of opportunities for ourselves. We got on top of them and controlled play a number of times throughout the match. 2 goals against the run of play in the second half with precision & clinical finishes saw the final result go their way. This was a closer contest than the score line suggested and we know we can hold our own against the top sides.
Reserve Men v Twin City lost 0-7
The Ressies were a bit undermanned but were given a soccer lesson by our opponents. The game demonstrated that we have have a way to go to match the top teams but there is no reason why we cannot get there. Alex, Nick, Jim and Ben were best for Spurs.
Senior Men v Twin City lost 1-7
After a close first half (behind 1-2) the seniors fell away to be well beaten. Lewis Parrett, Luke Dahl and Ray Kraushe all made their senior debuts and all did very well in a tough game. Jon Cochrane and Mick Corkett had good games for the seniors.
