Match Reports
U12s v Albury United won 5-1
Firstly I would like to thank the U/11 kids and Sanjay that stepped up and filled in for us, what a massive effort. This game was always going to be a hard with 4 of our stars out due to rep commitments, well done to those players. That meant our other 7 stars had to step up which they did with no hesitation. We started off slowly in the first half but once we found our groove we started scoring goals first up from young gun Ryan and then soon after Tomo.
Second half was entertaining; Ryan scores another but soon after Uniting scores, which only sparked our spurs into a frenzy. Back line was strong with Lenny Sanjay and Captain Rupert holding up the fort, with the mids working hard up and down the field with Jay, Seamus, Mitch and jack giving it all. Great improvement from players Jayke and josh worked hard all game. Spurs did what I asked and scored another 2, another great one from tomo and an absolute cracker from Ryan which was setup from a beautiful pass from Ace ventura Cody Wild making that Ryan’s hat trick for the game. Well done Spurs
Congratulations to our AWFA representatives who become Football Riverina Branch Champions on the weekend, Ava AWFA U12 Girls and Reese, Dawson and Brodie AWFA U12 Boys, they played 6 games in two days.
Also, congratulations to Jonathon who ran the Nail Can Hill and was first U12 boy home in a time of 00:57:28 and finished 153 overall.
Under 14 girls v St Pats won 10-0
A solid game from the girls who passed the ball around well to each other. The girls played well, displaying good sportsmanship against the other side. Bella finished with 3 goals, as di Ava and Alesha and Grace scored her first goal. All the girls played very well and was great to see. Keep up the great team work.
Under 16s v Albury United won 7-0
On a cold and windy Sunday morning the under 16s took on Albury United hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. With 5 regulars missing the boys enlisted the help of Josh from the under 14s and Shadev from the thirds. The boys started very well and only minutes into the game Luke slotted the first goal of the match. Before half time Spurs managed to score another 3 goals with Ollie scoring 2 and Luke scoring another to give him his second of the match. The defence held strong in the first half and Spurs led United 4-0 at the break. Spurs continued to dominate in the second half and scored another 3 goals with Ollie and Luke completing their hat-tricks and Gez also getting on the score sheet. United never looked like getting past the defence and the game ended with a 7-0 victory for Spurs. Good game to all the boys and we look forward to the top of the table clash with Cobram next week.

Report2
Spurs ran out the winners against Albury United in a match where both teams were affected by absences due to rep tournaments and other commitments. Thanks to Shadev of the Thirds and Josh G of the Under 14s for helping out. Spurs played a great game with much sharing of the ball and few wild shots on goal. The coaches’ emphasis on backing each other up and providing options for passing paid off beautifully. The wind made things a little difficult at times but nothing the team couldn’t handle. At no time did the opposition look as if they could take control and that was testament to Spurs’ smart play and great awareness. Luke and Oliver kicked three goals apiece and Gez scored one. Well done to all.

Senior Ladies v Albury United lost 0-2
The game against United was played in tough conditions, with fast winds and long grass restricting the ball’s movement. There seed to be a lack of enthusiasm in the first half, but despite this we kept the score low, 1-0 down at half time.
In the second half we came out stronger. Weavers continued to make some amazing saves, throwing herself into harms way to protect the ball. Jamie and Jess worked well together and Nat was strong in defence. Millie made some nice runs up the side, as well as Shelby, who almost got a goal after a fantastic run.
Both sides took full advantage of their subs. Thank you Snowy, Keely, Mary and Claire for stepping up and doing an amazing job in seniors.
The final result was 2-0 down, but if we continue to make the effort at training we have the potential to change the score in our favour at our next meeting with United.
Reserves Men v United lost 0-6
The Ressies started well and were very competitive early in this match. Simple errors cost the team and they were down by two goals at halftime. A poor second term did not show what this team is capable of achieving. Ray was good in goals and Shannon and Nick were best in the team on Sunday.
Senior Men v United lost 2-3
A disappointing result in a game which the team led twice. If we concentrate for the whole game we will beat many clubs. Joel McDonough played well in goals, Mark Belgre, John Cochrane and Lewis Parrett all had strong games for the Spurs.
