Match Reports
U12s v Albury City lost 0-5
I don’t mind at all that we lost. The team played one of the best teams going around and with no subs we were outstanding keeping them to only two goals at half time and we had the first shot on target. Unfortuantly we didn’t manage to score but we did create some excellent chances. Thanks to Dawson for stepping in to goals while Ian was away some where sunny and warm. Tomo had an awesome game slotting back in midfeild but again I would like to say how well the whole team played as a team.
Under 12 girls: won 5 nil
The girls played 9 a side and created many chances to score. They passed the ball well and battled hard after a loss last week. Ruby scored a great goal, Ava scored 3 and Daisy scored one as well. A really good team effort, everyone played well. Great Job Girls!! Awards to Daisy, Sienna and Paige.
Under 14 girls United Catch up game won 9-1
Playing 9 a side the girls out passed United and played some very nice Football as a team which was great to see. Bella and Sarsha held the middle of the park and created scoring chances. Ciara played well on the wing and our defenders were super solid. The goals were all shared around. Awards to Laura for putting her hand up to play keeper and Sarsha.
Under 14 Girls won city 4 nil
Another solid game from the Under 14 girls who passed the ball well and were 2 nil up at half time. The girls play as a team and move the ball nicely, again we created many scoring chances. Everyone played well, thanks to under 12 s for providing fresh legs and to Peter who ran 12 and 14 girls line. Awards to Ciara and MAttea. Keep up the great work girls.
O35s v Albury City Lost 1-4
Almost a carbon copy of our last encounter with them. After our valiant effort last week we took to the field with the sound of crunching underfoot, a crisp frosty 8:30am start with most of us trying hard to remember the last time we played in those conditions. An even tussle for the 1st half saw us go to the break still in the game at just 0-1 down.
We certainly played well in patches during the full 70 minutes but we didn’t apply enough pressure to them & gave them too much time on the ball during the second half. The number of near misses was astounding throughout the game with shots either hitting the woodwork or nearly taking the paint off. Once again a match that we should have had a much better result from.
A week off now before returning to our (hopefully) warmer time slot.
Reserve LAdies: loss 10 nil
A tough battle for the girls against the number 1 side who have not lost a game, but the girls played well and did not give up!! Our defenders were strong but were just outrun by the younger legs of the opposition who were just everywhere!! Kate, Tynecia, Kelly, Snowy and KAylah were awesome in defence and Carissa held the ball well up front, huge thanks to Shelby for providing support on the bench. Keep the heads up girls and work together and the results will follow!! Thanks to Bella who ran the line!!
Reserve Men v Albury City lost 1-7
A disappointing result after the team played well for the first hour. Our opponents got away from us in the last part of the match when forgot to do the simple things particularly not supporting each other in the defensive area. Luke Dahl scored a good goal and Ben Gardiner also played well.
Senior ladies lost 7-2
The girls improved immensely against Albury city, both reducing goals against and increasing goals for. Millie and Sammie had amazing games in defence, shutting down both wings and supporting the midfield. Weavers had a great game keeping and Anna scored a brilliant goal on her left.
With the score at 4-1 at half time, the girls were motivated to get another goal in the second half and continue keeping city’s attacks at bay. The opportunity for the second goal came from a spectacular play from the girls. Quick, sure passes landed the ball at Anna’s feet, who then crossed the ball in for Jess to gracefully tap into the back of the net with her left.
Overall, the score was a great improvement which is a result from the hard work the girls put into the game. Everyone kept running until the last minute and put in a tremendous effort. This amount of effort will be needed next week when the girls play their catchup match against Cobram Saturday afternoon and then back up on Sunday against Myrtleford.
Senior Men v Albury City lost 1-4
A game of missed chances. The seniors played some good football but were not consistent over the whole match. Ryan Smith, Matt Townsend, Ryan Weston and Joel McDonough were our best players on Sunday.
