Match Reports
U11s v Cobram won 3-2
Terrific effort by the team over the weekend. We battled hard in both games and scored a last minute win on Saturday and the lost in the last minute in tough conditions on Sunday !
Due to school holidays Spurs had a reduced squad and special thanks to those players who helped out. Special mention to Jake in goals who made some great saves on Sunday.
Look forward to seeing Irish back on the sideline very soon.
U12 Boys v Cobram won 9-1
Great win by the team with a few away and some help from U11s we were dominate and went on a scoring spre. Tomoki baged 4 and Dawson came out of goals and score a second half hat trick, Ava and Brodie also scored a goal each. Every one worked hard in defence and attack and which lead to such a great result.
NO TRAINING this Wednesday 6 July.
Under 14 girls won 6 nil
A great game from the Under 14 girls, who are playing some nice football together, each and every one of the girls played well. Bella lead the girls in the middle of the park and LAura, Grace, Yasmin and Kate had the defence covered. Ava and Ciara played really well on the wings and Alesha, PAige, KAite, Mattea and Mim did well up front . Congrats to Katie who scored her first goal!! Awards to KAtie, Yasmin and Alesha. Also a huge thankyou to Jonothan for running the line, awesome work girls, keep up the great work!!
U14s v Cobram lost 1-4
Saturdays game was a makeup game against Cobram after the washout earlier in the season. Unfortunately the boys didn’t get the result they were after going down 4-1
The game couldn’t get started till Harry realised his holiday was over and took the beads out of his hair, lol. The game was full of headers as well as foot skills. The girls worked well in defence, with Bella using her voice really well and communicating with the team. James is proving himself each week to be a relied upon and improving player. Laura saved a great goal and Will did a great job jumping and diving to save all he could. Connor did the big head shake flick of the hair before scoring a great goal. Lilly did a great job running the line and making tough calls that were correct.
As always It was good to see that our club players and supporters conducted themselves in a manner befitting a junior game, and showing other clubs in the league how to.
Awards went to Lilly, James, Will ,Bella & Baily
Under 16 Boys v Cobram Won 1-0
It was a fairly even game on the field, with everyone playing well as a team in quite miserable conditions. Cobram were quite strong in defence making it pretty tricky to score a goal, however Spurs kept passing the ball around and opened up the play and eventually snapped a goal.
Reserve Lsdies Lost 2 nil
A much improved game for the reserve ladies who played a great game, it really could have gone either way only difference was Mytleford could convert their chances. The girls battled hard with each and everyone of the girls holding position and playing well. Taneesha played well in the middle and was supported well by Claire. Gios and Em played really well on the wings and created many scoring chance. It was great to see Amy return on the park who teamed up well with MAry up front. Our defenders were great with Snowy, Carissa, Tynecia, Kelly and Kate doing an awesome job!! Great team work girls enjoy the week off!! Thanks Bella for running the line, you did a great job!!
Reserve Men v Cobram Drew 1-1, v Myrtleford lost 1-7
The Ressies got a good point against Cobram but we battled at Myrtleford with so many players unavailable. For the first time in memory Spurs played three goalkeepers in one game -two of them on the field. (It may have been better if we lined them up across the goalline) Special thanks to Wildy and Cobra who made up the numbers at short notice. It is important as a club that Hotspurs honour our commitments to other clubs and I am proud to say we did that last Sunday.
Senior Men v Cobram Lost 1-3, v Myrtleford Lost 1-4
A tough week for the Seniors with a number of players unavailable. The players who came in including James Shannon, Joe Suggate, Nick Baily, Jeremy Norton, Ethan Hurley and Alex Birrell all did really well for the team. Look forward to getting all players back on the field and picking up some more points.
