U12s v Melrose lost 0-3
After our last few games we went into the quarter final with some confidence of progressing to the semi-final. Unfortunately we didn’t convert our early attacking pressure into goals and when Melrose got a chance they took it. The team seemed to lose a bit of confidence and also some structure which lead to Melrose getting a second goal before half time.
With time running out in the secondhalf, we knew we had to force the issue but to no avail and Melrose got their third and it was all but over with minutes to play.
See you all at junior presentation this Saturday and please return your playing shirt thank you.
Under 14 girls v St Pats won 11-0
A bit of a slow start for the girls but then kicked into gear at half time and started to pass the ball around and score some nice goals. Ava started our scoring with a nice goal. The girls worked hard on a very hot afternoon with our goal keeper Lil not touching the ball in the second half. Bella worked the ball well in the middle of the park and always looked for her team mates. Sarsha scored some nice goals and our wings Mattea and Mim ran hard. A solid team effort. We will miss Laura and Yasmin this week. Awards to JAck and Leo for running the line, Ava, Mim. Bring on Semi Finals.
A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported the girls.
U14s v Albury City lost 0-2
WOW what a great game, well done to our 14s, you should be very proud of yourselves. Finals football is always a very different game and we sure showed Albury City that we were not going to go down without a fight, 2nd verses 7th is not usually such a close and exciting game and all our players lifted to the challenge and gave 110%. ( last time we played them we went down 7/1 ) Roy and I are very proud of you all. We would like to thank you all for your season, 14 girls, 13 boys and the 14 boys you all came together to make a great team.
I would also like to thank Roy for all his time and passion he has put into this team over many years, it is a big commitment to coach a team each week.
Lastly I would like to thank all our parents for bringing you to training and games every week and for helping out with oranges, reports, lollies, marshalling and line running without this help my job would of been a lot harder.
U16s v Melrose won 7-2
The U16 finals campaign commenced with an 8.00 am game – a most unteenagerish time of day.
Despite this, the team came out pretty hard and spent most of their time in the Melrose half. This effort eventually paid off with a couple of goals. The foot then came off the pedal a bit. The good passages of play were very good but there was also some scratchy stuff in there. Half time score was 4 to 1. Some renewed focus and some good passing saw the team go on with it in the second half. Final score 7 to 2. Well done Spurs. Your undefeated run continues. Onwards and upwards.
O35s v St Pats Lost 1-2
While we were knocked out of the cup this was the pinnacle of our season. We saved our best till last. St Pats certainly had to work hard for this win. Although down 0-2 at halftime we had belief in ourselves and kept them at bay to win the second half 1-0. At every turn they became increasingly frustrated by their lack of ability to finish us off. Our passing was crisp, the defence was fantastic and the talk was superb and everybody come off drained but knew they had given 100%. You can’t ask for more than that. Who knows where this game may have taken us too if we had our full complement of players. Once again it has been a pleasure to play alongside a great bunch of talented footballers in a team that prides itself on camaraderie and fair play in the true spirit of our beautiful game.
