THREE HOTSPURS TEAMS TO PLAY CUP FINAL
It was a great day for Hotspurs on Sunday when three of our great teams progressed to the Cup Final.
The Elevens were not able to win their game but they performed with great credit. Well done to this team and thanks to Brendan O’Neill and Justin Wild for organizing the group this year.
The Sixteens played very well and had a big win. They now play the strong Cobram team which should be a very good close game.
The 12 Girls and 14 Girls were in both involved in nail biting games which had all our supporters on edge. The !2’s won 4-3 in a see-sawing tussle and the 14’s showed great determination to win 4-2 in another terrific match.
Good luck to all teams next Sunday and Go Spurs!
U11s v Melrose lost 0-4
U12 Girls v Wangaratta won 4-3
Wow what an exciting game that could of gone either way!! The girls played hard and didn’t give in. We went goal for goal. Ava was awesome and lead the girls all over the field. Our defenders stood up and all played well with Brooke, Sienna, Alex and Katie doing a great job. Mattea and Ash worked hard on the wings and our forwards were awesome with Paige, Tahlia, Ruby and Daisy doing a great job. Lil pulled off a very important penalty to keep us in the game. It was a huge team effort from each and everyone of the girls who deserve to be in the Grand Final and no matter what this weekend, they have done an awesome job!! Keep up the great work girls and a huge thank you to every one who supported and Rob for running the line.
U14 Girls v Albury United won 4-2
Another exciting game for the mighty Under 14 girls, with two of our defenders away on holidays it was hard to fill this position but Bella and Grace stepped up and played for the team and a great job they did. The longer we played the better we looked. We passed the ball around well and created many scoring chances and were able to hold United out. Each and everyone of the girls played well giving everything to make the final ,with Sarsha finishing off a penalty to cement our spot in the Grand Final. The girls are ready and deserve to be in the final. We hope to see many of you there supporting the girls again. Great Job Girls.
U16s v Twin City won 7-0
Another tremendous win for the Under 16s, who came out with all guns blazing and scored their first goal within minutes. This team usually takes a while to warm up but not today. They kept up the pressure for almost all the game, with just a brief lapse in concentration before half-time, and controlled the play beautifully. Their passing was accurate and their commitment and focus were exemplary. As the goal tally crept up the desire to keep a clean sheet also rose and though Scott had to make a few serious saves the defenders were more than up to the task. A hat-trick of goals to Ben, two to Luke, one to Denzel and one own goal, in a 7-0 victory. But it was the overall team effort that garnered them the win and their participation in next week’s grand final is well-deserved. Go Spurs!
