Ryan Giles played his 300th senior game on Sunday. He scored a goal, pictured celebrating, but the Seniors were not able to get a win. The game was very exciting with the boys going down five goals to three.

Finally we got a break with the weather! This year we have a large number of under 7s which has allowed us to have three teams; Hotspurs Hot-to-go, Hotspurs Spursies and Hotspurs Spursettes. The kids played three spectacular games with Singyu, Ethan and Murray being the standouts for the Spursies, Lenny and Mitch were the first to score goals for Hot-to-go and Elisha scored her first goal for the Spursettes. Thanks to Ian, Justin and Jo who coached the kids on field allowing me to walk between the three games to watch.
The under 7 girls team is off to a great start. Alice and Elisha showed their skills in sending the ball long to the team, while Poppy, Isla and Emily were in the pack trying to get the ball out and over to Isabella or Seanna who would then dribble it towards goals and have a shot. Nice to see the girls holding their own against the United boys to finish with a draw (not that we are keeping score). One of the highlights of the game was Izzy’s length of the field run, dazzling the opposition with her footwork. Poppy was also impressive in defense, as was Alice in the centre of the park, it was hard to believe neither have played before. I cant wait to see how the season unfolds with this exciting team of girls.
The Under 8s started their season against St Pats. They ran the length and breadth of the pitch for the entire game like a pack of tiger cubs after their lunch! The challenge for them this season will be getting use to the fact that the field is a lot bigger than last year’s!
The team worked well to get the ball up to the goal on many occasions – passing ahead and thinking about their positions. They had a few turnarounds where they showed some quick thinking to get back and help out in defence.
Well done to everyone for a great effort for their first full game of the season. See you at training on Wednesday, 4.30.
Excitement levels were high on Saturday afternoon down at Jelbart Park. We had a strong turnout, fielding a side of 12 little tigers keen to get out on the pitch and play some football. After a heated discussion in who gets to play goal keeper we finally took the field. We passed the ball around really well in the first half and everyone was involved and some great team work was displayed. We were unlucky not to score in the first half but after a quick break at half time we came out firing and kicked six goals of the back of some great team work and a few good individual efforts from Jack and Obie. Overall it was a great game and we are really looking forward to getting back out there next week and doing it all over again!
We were missing a few players but it was a great first hit-out for our under 10s sides. Both sides played some good football and while they may not have prevailed on the day – if we were keeping score – they showed a lot of promise. There were some excellent passages of play in the matches. Thanks to all our under 9s who are part of Hotspurs Black and special thanks to Mitch for playing in Hotspurs Gold.
A good effort was shown by all the girls as they begin To work together as a team and learn more about the Game and positions. When we held possession we looked good and Were passing the ball very well. Good games had by Laura in Defence, Bella Godfrey and Ciara. Great work on the line By Taneesha very entertaining and you did a great job. Keep Up the great work at training girls it will pay off!!
The game started off fairly evenly but we needed to put a tiger in the tanks of the back line as they all seemed “asleep”. Perhaps we needed a real tiger on the pitch to chase the players and put a bit pf spark in the team. Kye and CJ played well together up front and had some very close near misses. Sarsha and CJ were unlucky not to score. Riley played well and at no stage gave up. Get well soon Marcus and Harry.
Best on Ground: Riley, Sarsha and Connor
The game started off with an even domination of the ball by both teams. United were close to kicking a goal several times but frustrated by our strong defence. Similarly, we had some tries for goal too. Just before half time, after the ball had been taken up to the goals, it was crossed to Zac Fordham who tried for a goal but due to defence it didn’t quite make it in, however Ben Gardiner kicked the ball in the nets soundly.
After half time our team seemed to come back stronger and saw us with more possession of the ball. Even though another goal wasn’t kicked by Hotspurs we had some beautiful play from all members of our team. Special mention should be made of Anna Parrett, who defended superbly throughout the game until towards the end of the second half, when she suffered a knock to her knee, which saw her out for the remainder of the game. Hopefully we will have her back next week. The game finished with Hotspurs winning 1-0.Under
The game was the rematch of our practice game however the score was not the same. United fought strong and hard like a tiger and United opened the scoring with 2 quick goals to wake us up. After the second half Heathy came off with a devastating and game ending ankle injury but we still fought and played well. We had many opportunities but it took until the 2nd half for Matt to score an outstanding goal. They then later scored a third and final goal to lead us into a 3-1 loss. Our defence and all others played strong all day.Under 17s Girls V Albury United Lost 1 – 5
A very good performance against the undefeated leaders in this competition. All the boys worked very hard in this game. Hamish, Indra and Joel in goals were outstanding. Jarah had a good first game and the team will get more wins if we continue to play as we did on SundayOver 35s V Albury United Lost 1 – 7 Reserve Women V Albury United Lost 0 – 3
Was a solid effort by the ressie ladies. Although it was a loss the team are really starting to gel and the results will start to come. Everyone put in 100% Fee thought she was playing netball. Beth and Jess were putting their heads together. Bec was solid in goals. The midfield and defence created some great opportunity for the forwards. Thanks to Taneesha on stepping up and playing her first reserves game.
A very disappointing result for the girls today! We started off strong, holding off United and having plenty of opportunities moving forward. After a questionable free kick, United got their first goal and followed it up with two more before the half was over. The girls struggled in the second half but with a goal from Ali we kept fighting despite conceding 3 more. A tough match both mentally and physically. Special mention to both Ali and Lily who are back from injury and were easily two of our strongest on the field.
This was a very exciting game. Hotspurs led 3-1 after great goals by the two Eggys and Ryan Giles (in his 300th game). Things did not go to plan in the second half and the decisions do not go our way. The team play some good football but we need to go for 90 minutes. Middi, James Eggy and Luke Drummond were the best for Hotspurs.
