WELL DONE LEWIS PARRETT
Hotspurs was pleased to receive a letter from the Albury Wodonga Referees congratulating our 16s boys captain Lewis Parrett on the way he conducts himself on the field during the games. They noted that he is a very fair player who supports the referee and encourages his team to play with respect. Thank you Lewis for being a great representative of our club.
HAVE A GOOD DAY AT MYRTLEFORD
The club travels to Myrtleford this Sunday and I encourage all club members to remember our responsibility to bring credit to our club in the way we behave as players, coaches and supporters. There were some disappointing incidents when our club last played and I made Myrtleford aware that I was very unhappy with their behaviour. If Hotspurs demand other clubs need to improve their behaviour we have to be prepared to set the standards we expect of other clubs. I hope everyone enjoys Sunday at Myrtleford. – Ian Belgre President

Newsletters
All game reports to go in the newsletter need to be sent each week to wrights@dragnet.com.au before 10pm on the Monday after the game so they can be collated. The newsletter is emailed out each week. The report does not have to be done by the manager or coach so you can share the responsibility between the parents and/or players. If you miss the deadline I’ll carry the article into the following week but please try to meet the deadline. You can see past reports on the Hotspurs website.
Finally the award for our best report using the word of the week “walkabout” judged by the newsletter editor (me) goes to Helen of the U14s Boys, pick up your drink prize from the canteen at the next home game. The word for next report is “tokay”.

Match reports
The hot to go boys were pumped on Saturday as Auskick was cancelled and with no Game the week before the boys( and the parents) were thankful that soccer was still on! With fresh legs , heaps of confidence and an undefeated ( not that anyone scores….) start to the season the goals soon started flowing.
The St Pats team played with plenty of determination but had trouble reigning in the evasive skills of Mitch, the accurate passing of Lenny , the improved dribbling skills of Zavier, the hustle & bustle of Sam and the relentless scoring machine called Ryan. Well done to Lenny for playing like a champion and winning the award for this week. The boys are on fire , training well and are looking like contenders for World Cup 2030- or at least will be a force in U8s next year.

Well it was very disappointing Yackandandah did not turn up to play .So we had a parents vs kids game. The kids thought this was fun until the parents showed they can play and gave them a lesson in passing and moving into space to receive a pass. The kids then lifted and went hard at the ball and got into the game. Most of the parents did struggle in the wet with non-appropriate footwear and found stopping and turning very difficult, especially Mia who went over a few times after being taken out by her son Reese. We also found out who the best goalkeeper is in the Howsam family, too.
Well done everyone involved, good team spirit shown by all the parents and kids.
A great start to the second half of the season with another win over Boomers
Goals: Will 2, Kye 1 and Wendell 1
Awards: Wendell, Zac, Toby and Kye
Another great game from the Under 12 girls they are really starting to pull together and become a strong little team. They passed the ball well into space and finished their chances. A really good team effort, keep working hard girls. The McDonalds Encouragement awards went to both Bella’s. Well Done girls!!
What a great start to the game with Baghat unlucky not to score as the ball went walkabout and skimmed across the goal mouth. The passing to feet was spot on today. Connor was instrumental in the first two goals. Connor passed to Felix who put the ball away and next passed the ball to Kye who scored. The next goal was a great passage – Manny to Tim to Wendell to Kye who scored and then Wendell to Josh to Gerizim who scored. The last goal came from a cross who chested the ball into the goal.
Goals: Felix 1, Gerizim 1 and Kye 3
Best on Ground: Marcus, Connor and Bryce
Well it started with a bit of a walkabout as the Hotspurs kept firing goals straight to to the Boomers keeper!. After a bit the Spurs goals started going in with a flurry in the first half to Ben (2); Mitch (3) Luke (2) and Rory (1). Boomers snuck one in in the first half with a little bit of complacency from Spurs defence; but other than that the goals kept coming Spurs way. Coach John was hoping for 15 and he got it , plus a walkabout fly that managed to finds its way down his throat! Goals in the second half went to Ollie (2); Cody (2); Charters (1) – with a great header; and the grand finale goal from Anna (1). Our defence was strong with great work from Raymond, Anna, Casper, & Charters and the mid field and forwards of Alex, Zac, Josh and Jack setting up great play to make it look like a walkabout day in the park for Spurs – but credit to Boomers Hearts – they played strong and hard all day and never gave up.
Probably our best performance of the year. We passed the ball around very well and scored some great goals. Ben, Hamish and Felix finished some good play with great finishes. Lewis also scored two great goals and Jim got the other one. Sajit, John B, Joel and Karl were really solid in defence. Great stuff team !
The Ressies played a good game but were unfortunately beaten by a last minute goal. Dhan scored the goal but we needed to convert other chances to grab a win. Joel was very safe in goals and Middi, Ram and the two Zacs were sound at the back. Irish and Mick Corkett had strong games for the Spurs.
The seniors played a good side and were very competitive in the first half to be down 0-1 at the break. Unfortunately Spurs did not play as well after half time and our opponents were very good finishes. Ryan Giles, James Eggleston and Jon Cochrane were the best for Hotspurs.
