All game reports to go in the newsletter need to be sent each week to wrights@dragnet.com.au before 10pm on the Monday after the game so they can be collated. The newsletter is emailed out each week. The report does not have to be done by the manager or coach so you can share the responsibility between the parents and/or players. If you miss the deadline I’ll carry the article into the following week but please try to meet the deadline. You can see past reports on the Hotspurs website.
Finally the award for our best report using the word of the week “birthday” judged by the newsletter editor (me) goes to no one, it was too hard to put in by the look of it. The words for next report are “housewarming”.

Match reports
With the Albury games being cancelled (soft), we were the only brave souls to get to play. The set-up in Wodonga was unusual to say the least. Small field, full size goal at only one end and allowing 10 aside on a small field made it difficult to play but we managed to string together some very good patches of play. Diamonds got off to a flyer as they had the big goals to aim at and a very strong wind helping in the first half which died down for us in second half.
Thanks to the parents and the players who were able to commit to this game, it would have been disappointing if we couldn’t give the Diamonds a game.
We have another U10 game in Wodonga 10am and two in Myrtleford 12pm coming up and we will need to gather a list of who is available to play. It is possible players could play both the early away game and the afternoon game at Jelbart on those days.

Under 11s V Diamonds Won 4 – 3Under 12s V Diamonds Lost 0 – 7
Under 12s Girls V Diamonds Win Forfeit
The mighty under 12 girls started the game strong, on a very wet and cold day. Diamonds only had 8 players so we played the same which gave us lots of space. Halle, Sarsha, Bella and Ciara were passing the ball well with Laura putting through some nice long balls and super keeping skills were shown by Riley!! Even though we were 5-0 up at half-time the Diamonds girls were dropping like flies so with them forfeiting, in the true spirit of the game the Hotspurs girls pulled on the diamonds shirts and we all had a run on the field, with lots of laughter and mud the girls passed the ball well and showed great sportsmanship which was great to see and more important than the end result. Well done girls we have some big games in the next couple of weeks which will see us cement our position. A huge thanks to Dee for coaching the girls during the week!!
Under 13’s V Diamonds Postponed
Under 14s V Diamonds Won 5 – 4
Under 14s Girls V Diamonds Lost 0 – 11
Under 16s V Diamonds Postponed
Under 17s Girls V Diamonds Postponed
Thirds V Diamonds Lost 1 – 3
The Thirds men play a good game against a strong side. The team defended very well with Carl Copsey filling in goals and Sajit and John Belgre playing well in the centre of defence. Our opponents scored very late in grab the win. Jim “evergreen” Brodie scored a goal early and had Diamonds worried for a long time. John Brumley, Henry and Sabash were excellent for Spurs.
Over 35s V Diamonds Lost 1 – 5
It was no birthday party for us this week, too much tokay and five weeks off had not helped our fitness or skills and awareness so while we played OK in patches it was not consistent enough. Another week off this week then a patch of five games will see some improvement for the finals. Watch out for that cake this week team.
Reserve Women V Diamonds Lost 2 – 6
A very slow start for the reserve women with not a great warm-up we were a little flat-footed. The defence were held together strongly by Taylah, Megan, Kendal and Dani. KT moved the ball well through the midfield and scored a great goal taking on several players. Bec Snow also scored a cracker going through three players to score but this would not of happened without the great “assist” by Gios!! Great first game from Ali who did a great job and to Neesh, Nicole and Kendal for helping out when we had 8 players away, but we improved from last time and scored 2 goals this time. Well Done girls we now hit a run of games so lets keep working together and the results will come. Thanks also to Townie for running the line on a very wet and cold morning!!
Reserves V Diamonds Lost 1 – 7
A disappointing scoreline which was not a true reflection of the game. Spurs played well at times but our opponents were given some easy goals. Wayne Earle, Mick Corkett, Mick Carroll and Middi had good games for Hotspurs.
Ladies V Diamonds Lost 0 – 8
Another top performance by our Seniors who were able to defend stoutly and catch Diamonds on the break. Two great finishes by Sam Thorman in only his third senior start were the difference. Many good players on the field today. Ryan Weston and John Cochrane were great in defence while Ryan Giles and Paul Kinning were outstanding in the middle. First win at Diamond Park for many years. Well done Team.
