Great day last Sunday
It was a terrific day for Hotspurs last Sunday with every team winning their respective matches. It was very encouraging to have the Senior and Reserve Men get their first points of the season. It had been some time since the players have belted out the club song.
The junior teams are really going well so lets hope it continues.
Good luck to all teams next Sunday!

Match Reports
12 Boys v Wodonga Heart won 6 – 1
The 12s didn’t have the best start going a goal down in the first 10 mins. However, they rallied well and were back on terms with a great goal from Seamus within 5 mins. Further goals from Suri and Jackson which where both excellently taken finishes, made Irish’s team talk a lot easier at half time.
Irish limited the number of touches for the team to 3 per player, for the 2nd half but the team still managed to produced a further 3 goals in the 2nd half.
First goal was a real team effort with a great interception by Jake and a quick pass to Ryan who teamed up with Lily to set Jack through on goal who finished with power and the ball going into the top corner. Mitchel also scored a well taken effort and Jack finished off the scoring with a opportunist header.
Lily was captain and led the team well with a special mention going to Kaleb who had an excellent game.
Finally a get well soon to Oliver who broke his hand playing footy on the Saturday. Hope you enjoy the card
13 Boys v Diamonds lost 1 – 5 (Thursday 30 March)
Finally we got to play our first game for Season 2017. The score did not reflect the game. The opposition were clinical early and we went to the break 4 down. We created many chances ourselves and we’re unlucky not to have scored at least two in the first half. Defensively they pressured us on the ball more than we did them especially around the goal.
The second half the team showed what they are capable of. Showing more determination and self belief we stopped them scoring at will by the relentless pressure our defense put on them.
Ava battled hard and was rewarded by scoring our goal with the assist from Rupert.
Rupert stepped up in the absence of Reese in defense and improved the longer the game went on.
We welcome Ethan to the team who played his first game for Spurs and did very well.
Both our keepers, Ian & Dawson were great in goal and on the field.
It was very pleasing to see the team not give up and work hard as individuals and as a team.
13 Boys v Wodonga Heart won 7 – 5
This was our second game of the year, our second in three days. The team started off slowly but put on the first goal but heart hit straight back. Some beautiful runs up the field by tomoki and brodie kept us in the game 4-4 at half time. The team came out firing in the second half after coach kelvin told them to stick to the game plan, the spurs eventually came out winners 7-5. A big thanx to the younger boys that filled in for us awesome job guys, also a big congrates to our captain for the day Rupert Baker for scoring his first goal since mini roos, it was a nice header indeed. Goal scorers Tomo 3, Dawson 2, Jack 1, Rupert 1.
Make sure we all get to training Thursday well done spurs.
16 Boys v Wodonga Heart won 6 – 2
With the addition of 2 new players to the team ( Felix and Yasmin ), it took Spurs a little while to settle down and play the good soccer that wins games. The second half was much improved and the goals started to come, 3 to Denzel, 1 each to Manny, Jack and Harry.
Training 5.30 Tuesday.
Thirds v Wodonga Heart won 5 – 0
Another sunny morning and another great game from the Thirds. Even though there were a few players away the team coped admirably. Spurs were never in danger of losing but it was a closer match than the 5-0 score suggested. Jim booted the first goal then Indra, playing his first Spurs game after a long period of rehabilitation, slotted home a penalty following a push in the box. In the second half Ol scored almost immediately then later Indra kicked two more goals within two minutes of each other. The defence was rock solid and, when the opposition did manage to get through, both keepers, Joel then Scott, blocked whatever came their way. Thanks to the Sixteen’s boys who helped out.
Over 35s v Wodonga Heart won 2 – 0
A scrappy affair with some ugly tackles from both sides where the score line should have been greater.
We dominated for the majority of the game. Our passing was good & crisp & we created plenty of opportunities to score but made poor decisions in front of the opponents goals which resulted in a lot of blown chances. A win is a win however & we will be happy to take the 3 points. We now need to regroup for our next match to take on the League & Cup champions from last year.
Reserve Men v Wodonga Heart won 4 – 1
Great to see the Ressies register their first win of the year. The team played poorly in the first half to be down a goal at halftime. They were a different team in the second and played much better. Dinesh and Arjun both scored goals and played good games. Jerome scored in his first game for the club and Durga also scored after returning from injury. Top games also from Joel in goal , Subash and Ash in the backline.
Senior Men Wodonga Heart won 4 – 1
The seniors have improved each week and Sunday’s effort was their best of the season. San Thorman scored two cracking goals and probably could got another couple. Again the young players were terrific with Mitch Anderson,Ben Gardiner and Luke Dahl showing out. Jon Cochrane played a real captains game and Lewis Parrett and Ben Quealey also had top games.
