LARAMEE LUDERS FOUNDATION CUP
This Sunday the Senior Mens team will be playing against Melrose FC for the Laramee Luders Foundation Cup.
This trophy is named in recognition of Hans Laramee (Melrose) and Bill Luders (Hotspurs) who both played major roles in forming their respective clubs and more importantly the Albury Wodonga Football Association in 1973. The clubs have competed for the cup since their 40th birthdays in 2012. Melrose has won the trophy three times to Hotspurs one. Let hope the senior men can get the LL Cup back on Sunday.

11 Girls v Melrose won 13 – 0
The U11 girls played Melrose and once again entertained the large crowd with a style of football that is the envy of the competition.
After a tough few minutes the girls once again started to score some cracking goals. Tahlia chipped in with a cool 6 goals (although I think the ref was generous with one as it could have possibly been an own goal) and Mya was again classy and snagged 2 quality goals. Sophie, Ruby, Daisy, Seanna and Elisha all grabbed a goal each. It is worth mentioning Elisha’s goal which was a superb 20 yard thunderbolt which left the keeper no chance. Sophie and Ava again shared the keeper duties and kept another clean sheet. The backline was magnificent passing the ball around and as such, Isla took the Urban Graze burger award for her work out wide in defense, Zali was on the other side and took out the Hungry jacks award, Ava, Poppy and Sophie also were stars and took home awards thanks to Muffin Break and Wendys.

11 Boys v Cobram drew 1 – 1
It was always going to be tough against Cobram. It was all Cobram in the first half but Alistair saved everything kicked at him in goals and it was his attack and fight along with a little bit of luck that kept us in the game.
After half time our mighty Mitch scored -after some terrific team play to finally to get a score on the board. The rest of the game was a great battle from both teams. Cobram levelled the score late in the second half. Nathan, Cooper, Ryan, Ruby and Daisy battled hard , were consistent and solid contributors .
The awards went to this week’s captain Lenny -a great game again by a player who is so reliable and leading by example every week , Dustin -each week giving 100% in defence and is proving to be a great team player and Alistair – a deserving recipient – a game saver in goals.
13 Boys v Cobram lost 1 – 3
A very disappointing performance. Parents, please make sure the kids are eating something 1 1/2 to 2 hours before kick off. Majority of players were flat and lethargic. Not sure if the late 1pm kick off suits our kids but we have to manage that time slot better.
Ava, Jack, Cody, Ethan and Ian performed well and so too did Dawson when he replaced injured Ian in goals.
13 Girls v Cobram won 9 – 0
The girls are playing so well together as a team and passing the ball around the field well.
Ava scored some very nice goals from all over the field. Ruby pulled out the tricks and rolled into a crossing goal, very entertaining for anyone watching!! Tahlia and Salli also chipped in with a couple of nice finishes each. Our defence was solid and chased everything down. Keep up the great work girls, its fantastic to see. Thanks Clint for running the line. Awards to Daisy, Paige, Tahlia.
16 Girls v Melrose won 5 – 0
A solid game for the girls with a few girls away or injured. The girls held strong with some very tired legs and bodies on the field. The girls are playing well and made some nice combinations. The goals were shared around with the team which was great to see. Lily had a great game in goals. A huge thank you to our 13 girls who week after week back up- You guys are awesome!! Thanks also to Yasmin who though was injured came and supported and helped her team. Thanks Justin for running the line again!!
Awards to Kate, Lena and Ava
16 Boys v Cobram drew 3 – 3
A great start to the game for the first 20 minutes with Denzel scoring and putting us in the lead, then a lapse in concentration cost us 2 quick goals taking us to the break behind by a goal. The second half started and we were not yet switched on and that cost us another goal. The team then started to play together which saw another goal from Denzel and one from Leo to get the draw. Back line worked tirelessly as usual. A few great free kicks off Harry ,that Denzel was unlucky not to score from. Our mids and forwards ran all game trying to get the ball through their defence. Mannys strong efforts were mentioned by the ref after the game. Welcome back to Jacob G, I bet it felt good to get off the sideline.
Thank you to those who helped out on Sunday, especially those who went home smelling of bbq.
Reserve Men v Cobram lost 0 – 1
The Ressies continued their good recent form with a strong game against the ladder leaders. The team were down by a goal at halftime but played really well in the second half to be very unlucky not to get a point. A missed penalty and other close chances cost the team at least a draw. Ray and Majhi were terrific in defence while Subash, Durga, Milky and Dinesh all played really well.
Senior Men v Cobram lost 2 – 4
The seniors were again involved in another exciting game. Goals by Jerome and a great header by Tony Zahtila had the Spurs all square at 2-2 at halftime. Hotspurs had created more chances and probably should have been in front The game continued the be very competitive in the second half and some excellent finishing by our opponents was the difference. Great games were played by Ranga, Tony and Paul at the back and Luke Dahl, Sam Thorman and Jerome Dunphy further forward.
