AWFA REP PRESENTATION
Our AWFA Rep Girls with Amy Chapman (centre back row)
On Friday night over 350 people attended the AWFA Representative Players Presentation. It was a great night and it was terrific to see so many Hotspurs players being a part of the very successful AWFA Rep teams. Highlight of the night was the special appearance of former Hotspurs junior Amy Chapman who has played 22 times for the Matildas, our national womens soccer football team. Many of our young players were able to get a picture with Amy- who is an outstanding ambassador for Hotspurs and football.

Match Reports
13 Boys v Boomers won 7 – 1 (Saturday, R14 catch up)
A very good win by us although we were tested constantly by Boomers who never gave up and kept our defence on their toes. It was good to see the team respond to half time talk and be more aware of their responsibility to be in a position to support the player who is about to receive the ball. Cody, Ava and Tomo were very strong for us through the spine and were supported well by the rest of the team. Thanks to Fraser and Max for helping out and I can see you are both learning a lot from your time on the field.
Goals to Tomo 3, Ava 2, Cody and Brodie 1 apiece.
13 Boys v Wodonga Heart won 5 – 1
A cold wet day and after having played the day before you might expect a slow start but that was not the case as our first attempt on goal came after only 14 seconds, unfortunately we did not score. Heart then defended with numbers and we found it difficult to penetrate. We were also caught offside on too many occasions. Eventually we got our first and we continued to dominate the game. Goal scorers, Tomo 2, Dawson, Brodie and Max G 1 each.
16 Girls v St Pats won 6 – 1 (Game called off due to weather)
A mighty 7 Spurs girls took to the field against 9 St Pats girls and subs. On a cold wet day these girls showed great spirit and determination and I couldn’t be prouder of them for their efforts and team work they show on the field!!
We started strong and just needed to hold until our 8th player ran from the car to the field to join her team and play!! At half time we shivered together and were 3-1 up!!
Then the storm hit and wiped us out…literally!! The game was called off.
A huge thank you to all the families for their support and help. Also special mention to Daisy and Keely for supporting the girls. All girls were best on ground from Lily in goals, to our defenders Ciara, Kate and Grace. Our mid field of Ava, Laura and Bella pass the ball so well to each other and Our lonely forward Salli who seemed to find the puddles every time and turn a ball beautifully!! A super effort girls, keep the heads up and keep playing with such spirit!!
Over 35s v Heart Won 9 – 1
Although Spurs controlled the entire game from start to finish on a wet pitch we reverted back to some old habits that we have desperately tried to eradicate from our approach. What started out as an attempt to emulate our performance from previous weeks took a dive in the opening stanza of this match. Somehow we seem to lower ourselves to the standard of a weaker opposition. On a positive note as the contest progressed we did manage to raise our momentum & put some first-rate moves together. Everybody got good game time which is what is needed for our tough fixtures in the weeks ahead.
Reserves v Heart won 8 – 1
The Ressies played very well and had a big win. The goals were shared around with Milky getting a hatrick and Mickett, Dinish, Durga,Subash and Zac Fordham getting on the scoresheet.
Seniors v Heart won 10 – 1
The seniors played pretty well against an opposition who never gave up. The team pushed the ball around well with some impressive passing. Luke Dahl, Toby Sua , Jerome Dunphy and Ash Hockin all had strong games. Jerome scored three and Luke and Ben Gardiner both scored doubles. Ranga got his first senior goal and Towny and Jon Coch also scored. Highlight was Zac Fordham getting his first senior game. That means five players from last year under 16 champion team have now played seniors at Hotspurs- a great effort.
