Match Reports
12 Boys v Heart won 10 – 1
This game was always going our way with Wodonga Heart being predominantly made up of miniroos U/10s and U/11s players they have entered the comp to accommodate a few registered u/12s. We rested a couple of players today and made a decision to share the ball around and make certain we played in positions.
Having said that, Aydan ended up with a double brace and Cooper with a hatrick, but they played their positions very well.
There was some flashes of brilliance again from our girls Ash and Tahlia, but I reckon Alistair showed how well he plays right back and was one of the only players not pressing forward to get their name on the score sheet.
Great to see Tyreece score a goal from a corner with a beaut left foot kick.
Goals: Aydan 4, Cooper 3, Tyreece, Trae and OG (Isaiah) x1
Awards: Coops and Aydan
11 Girls v Diamonds won 6 – 1
It was a slow start by the girls this week and they were under pressure from an improving Diamonds side. The first half saw Ava make a few great saves in goal, while Spurs also created a few chances. Spurs eventually grabbed the first goal as Mia slotted a nice goal. But Diamonds hit back after a goal mouth scramble. There were a few more close chances with Bianca, Isla and Elisha all going close to netting a goal but we went to the break 1-1. The Coach gave the girls a bit of a spray at halftime and shuffled the formation a bit for the second half. Poppy took on board the half time feedback and struck a long range thunderbolt that changed the game. The girls lifted and Poppy grabbed another cracking goal, while Elisha managed to snag a hattrick with some great runs at striker. Diamonds continued to push hard and second half keeper Isla pulled of a few great saves. Ava played a great game again in goal and on field, as did Isla who each week demonstrates how to play like a terrier on the field (take note girls) and was excellent in goal. But this weeks award of a Burger from Urban Graze was Poppy whose 2 goals lifted the team and allowed the team to get on top. Even though we have a bye this week, lets get to training and continue to work on our gameplay as there is still a lot of improvement to achieved by the girls.
13 Girls v Heart won 10 – 0
A fantastic start from the girls and a beautiful first half of football. The girls were passing the ball well
with Ash creating many scoring chances flying down the wing. Keely held the centre well moving the ball around
as we played 10 a side. Our defence line was solid with very little getting through and Lil’s talk from goals was awesome!!
Just before half time Mya was injured, we wish her a very speedy recovery and cant wait to see her back with the team.
Thanks must go to Bec for her assistance and care. Awards to Keely and Alex. keep up the great work girls!!
Thirds v Heart won 4 – 0
This was not the greatest match the team has ever played but we still ran out 4-0 winners. Against the bottom-placed team it looked like an easy game on paper but it didn’t turn out that way. Though Spurs were never in danger of losing we couldn’t reproduce the terrific play of last week. We missed Bautista, out with an injured hand. Goals to Manny, Denzel and Ben, plus one own goal. it was great to keep a clean sheet and to have Ben and Zac in the team. Thanks to A for running the lines.
