Presidents Report
On Saturday we had the last of our Miniroos gala days at Willow park. It was such a contrast to the previous weeks weather, the sun was shining and it turned out to be a ripper day. I sincerely thank all those coaches and game day organisers within the club for making our Quest Miniroos teams one of the better run groups in the competition.
This Saturday we celebrate the Miniroos and all our junior competitors with our Junior Presentation at Aloysius Park. Its always one of the better Spurs days on the calendar, not only for the players but also to recognise the fine volunteers that help keep the club running smoothly.
On Sunday we were at Alexandra Park with many great results across the board. The Seniors finished the day off with a win, not before the suspense of leading 3-0 before shipping 2 late goals to keep us all on the edge of our seats. Well done Spurs.
It was superb to see so many teams and supporters back at our major sponsors Bradys Hotel at the end of the day, this support of our sponsors is exactly what required to keep the partnerships strong.
Grand Final Day duties – 15th September
Thanks to those that have put their hands up to assist for Grand Final Day. We still require many more. Please get in touch with myself, Gary Kavanagh, Dwayne Day or any of your team’s officials. One hour or so by a few people is all that’s required to make the day run smooth.
This week we have our last home and away game before finals at Melrose Park. Let’s finish the season off on a strong note and with plenty of support, it promises to be a cracking day of football.

Match Reports
Div.1 Men v St Pats won 3 – 2
Well we got the victory in the end. 3-0 up at one stage, St Pats managed to get 2 goals back to make it a tight finish but we manage to hang on. Goals to Ben Gardiner with 2 goals and Luke Dahl with a goal from the penalty spot.
Div.2 Men v St Pats lost 1 – 3
Well this game had everything, cards, goals and plenty of interaction! The ressies found themselves in a dogfight from the start but didn’t shirk the battle, creating chances but we were once again caught out on the counter a couple of times. We did manage to score one of our better goals of the year when Greavsy popped up with a magnificent finish from some fantastic open field team play. Dibby, Trigger and Brandon where shown the cheese and the game was a battle of who could guess what was going to happen next. Thank you to Joel for doubling up in goals and well done to everyone on their effort. This loss has left us in 11th position and it would be fantastic if we could grab one last win for the season next week.
Div.2 Women
Over 35s v St Pats lost 1 – 6
It was always going to be a tuff day on the field for the 35’s this week and it proved to be that in spades. Try as we did, we just couldn’t repel the constant scoring threats and superior fitness that they have. After we went into the break 3-1 down after Kewin converted a deserved penalty. Thankfully after half time we were able to relax and play a bit more football and create a few chances on goals. Well done to all the lads for how hard they worked not only on Sunday but also for the year. At this stage it looks like we will stay in 6th position and take on Twin City in the first week of the finals.
Div.3 Men
16 Boys v St Pats lost 0 – 6
Today’s game saw an overwhelming loss to the St Pats team, 6-0. The team were simply outclassed in the first half with few players willing to step up to the challenge issued by the St pats attack, by the end of the first half it was 4-0. Kelvin gave the troops a half time speech to try and inspire the team to do better. Second half was better with the team playing with more dedication and spirit, the St Pats attack only managing 2 goals in the half. Overall it was a disappointing loss and hopefully the team can bounce back for the finals in 2 weeks time. Ha ha, I got two ? for this report.

16 Girls v St Pats drew 2 – 2
After an extended break the 16 Girls were back, fighting to maintain their ladder position. Matching St Pat’s 9 players meant we had a solid bench for the afternoon. St Pat’s opened up the scoring in the first half and after some persistence, we answered back with one of our own from Daisy. Lily’s goal put us in the lead. There was some impressive keeping in the first half, including a whole team effort to stop an indirect free kick close to the goals. In a later scramble on the goal line, St Pat’s were able to level the score with an own goal. In the second half Alex took her turn in goals for the half, we have now successfully subjected every player in the 16 Girls squad to half in goals to build character, resilience, and empathy for their regular goalkeepers! Despite some misgivings Alex proved to be a stellar keeper who pulled off some excellent saves in the half, keeping St Pat’s goalless in the second half. Elise kept pushing down the right wing, getting the ball down our end and crossing the ball superbly but we were unable to get one more in to take the win. On to next week, our last regular round against Melrose!
14 Boys
14 Girls
13 Boys v St Pats lost 1 – 2
We started very flat today, they went 1-0 up early in the game and it seemed too hard for the team to recover. We may have been outsized in a few areas with St Pats having a full squad of 13s rather than half ours being U/12s. Nonetheless when Tyreece scored off a ripper corner late in the game we seemed to find more energy and will to win and dominated the last 10 minutes. This was the energy that we needed from the start, let’s find that this week before we head into finals.
Goal: Tyreece
12 Boys v St Pats won 4 – 0
This was a very solid a dominant game from the 12s today. After last week’s game where we won 14-0, this week could’ve been one of those games where we got a bit complacent. To the teams credit they stuck to the instructions of putting the ball in the dangerous areas in the box, rather than the easy balls to the keeper. Billy was superb down the right side, cutting one back for Will Hale to crack his first of two into the net. Cooper got a nice solo effort in the second half before being dragged for an over exuberant celebration. Our midfield was dominant in their transition work after their training session with Townie and Luke Dahl from the Seniors on Wednesday. This topped with the usual solid defensive efforts from Lenny and Co. Keep up the effort, we will be playing Melrose this week in our last round of the season, and then the next week in the first final.
Goals: Will x 2, Cooper x 1, Billy x 1
12 Girls v Myrtleford won 9 – 0
A great team effort and dominant display from all the girls today.
Their gameplay showed how much the Spurs have improved this year, and no doubt Coach would has been impressed seeing the girls with their heads up, looking for and passing to teammates creating space and opportunities.
The Spurs dominated possession in both defence and attack, and with the possession came plenty of opportunity. First half goals to Rylee (2), Ava, Mia and Zali. Second half goals to Zali, Mia, Alice & Elisha (there was a couple of own goals there, but Alice & Elisha deserve the credit).
Another great result for the girls, some great momentum approaching finals.
Big thanks to both Elisha and Ava for being in goals – another clean sheet.
Special mention and awards go to Eloise, Chelsea, Mia and Zali for their impressive contributions during the match. Thanks to House of Trends and Muffin Break for providing the awards.
