Presidents Report
ANOUNCEMENT:
I can categorically declare that Albury Hotspurs Soccer Club values its role and importance in the lives of its members, supporters and the community and as such will be refusing any offers to play in the new European Super League.
In other news…On Sunday we ventured to Albury Citys side of Jelbart Park and had some strong performances across the board. Thanks to all the coaches and managers for preparing the sides for game day, and a special thanks to those parents that put their hands up to assist with running a line etc. I know I harp on this but its quite important that everyone does their bit to continue having a strong club.
Tomorrow night our Senior Men are playing the next round of the FA Cup competition at Melrose Park kicking off at 7:30. It’d be great to see a heap of Spurs there as the lads are missing a few and have only had the 3 day break they will be reliant on the vocal support.
This Sunday the association has a general bye as we honour our ANZACs

Div.1 Men v Albury City Drew 3-3
The senior men provided another exciting game for their supporters. The team will be disappointed not to get a win but the players should be pleased with the way they played. Kristian Shipard scored an outstanding goal early on to get the team off on the right foot. Hotspurs were the better team up to halftime and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Heath Harrison converted some great team play to increase the lead to two. Our opponents got back in the game with a penalty that seemed to be a tough call on the Spurs. Our lead was increased to two again after great work by Mitch Aitken allowed Dave Robin to score from close range.
Unfortunately the last ten minutes were not great for us as City scored twice to tie up the game. Terrific effort by our team. Really good to see Kristian Hopwood go so well in his first game and Dave Robin return from injury and score a goal.
A similiar team performance will result in plenty of wins for our senior men.
Women Div.1 v Albury United Lost 1-5
The ladies knew they were in for a tough day against the undefeated United team, however these ladies love a challenge and soon United knew they had to work hard to get this one. Despite united taking and early lead by banging in a long-range effort, Spurs struck back after Elisha grabbed a well-deserved goal as she terrorised their right-hand defence. Spurs could have taken the lead not long later however their keeper made a fine save as Elisha again made another 40-metre run creating a 1 on 1 chance. Against the run of play, United score again and then again with about 10 seconds remining in the half. Down 3-1, the girls could have been forgiven for slowing down, however in the now rising temperature, we dug deep and continued to push forward creating several nice chances. United managed to snag a couple of late goals to win 5-1. Laura played her fist game for the year and had a great game, while Sian, Jess, Lily and Elisha all combined all day to give the United defence plenty of headaches. Yas, Kelly, and the 2 generals Keely and Alex were solid all day, while the young guns of Mya, Eloise and Rylee were all very impressive. Overall, it was a great game to watch with Spurs playing some quality football. Well done Ladies.
Div.2 Men v Albury City Lost 2-6
It has antioxidant cialis generic australia more properties to nullify the effects of this drug. When discussing viagra prescription for woman , you could mention its good effect on heart but certainly cialis is not a medicine for heart disease but it helps heart in some way. But its cheapest prices made it world popular cheap cialis soft medication. But are all these treatments effective buy cialis in canada enough? No.The winning streak came to an end against some strong opposition in Albury City. We just didn’t play the right balls on the weekend and we played the price for it each time. Our focus is now on playing with better structure and reaching the better option faster than we did on Sunday. Well done to Leo and Jack Castles for their excellent play in the lead up to both goals. Our next game is in the AWFA Cup and against quality opposition in Boomers first grade. This loss leaves us in 3rd position.
Women Div.2 v Albury City Won 6-2
Once again, the entertainers of the club didn’t disappoint with a goal fest this game. Spurs took an early lead with Christie and Isabelle both getting nice goals, however City came back and found the net twice to make it 2-2 at the break. The half time drinks gave the girls just what they needed as they flicked the switch and turned it on. First it was Yvette and Ingrid Combining with some short passing before Ingrid scored her first career goal and celebrated in front of the huge crowd on hand who were loving what they were seeing. Ingrid had the chance to get her second except her shot sailed just past the goal post. Christie slotted another and then Shanaya scored a well-deserved goal to put the icing on the cake for a well-deserved win. Tash was solid at the back all game, while Maddie, Isabelle and Rylee were all awesome. Awesome game ladies.
Over 35s v Albury City Lost 3-7
Out gunned in the first half with City cruising to 4 goals to nil. We had a few chances but were very much a second rate team in the first half. The game seemed to be over as we went out to regain some credibility in the second half. Slight formation change helped and we were definitely more of a constant threat going forward. Spurs won a corner and City had all 11 players back in the box to create what seemed to be an impenetrable blue wall. They won a clearing header but it fell nicely for Kel to volley it into the bottom corner. Kel slotted his second not long after when Bonner’s shot was blocked and then played in Kel to finish in the other corner of the goals.
Aidan subbed Kel off as he wasn’t happy with the low key goal celebrations. On came Kinno who wasn’t sure he could live up to whom he was replacing. Alas, Kinno got our third, skipping passed their defence and finishing calmly passed the keeper. 3-4 down but back in the game. Unfortunately there was to be no glorious comeback victory. City managed to hit us on the counter as we gave up another 3 late goals.

17 Boys v Albury City Won 2-1
The team came out firing and completely controlled the game from the start. Chance after chance was created however the ball just would not go in the goal.
Eventually we got one in via Jay’s hard work in the box however against the run of play, somehow City found themselves in our box and earned a penalty. Lachlan picked the right way however it snuck under his arm to allow City to even it up 1-1. Cody then got an assist by making a great left back run up the line and then crossing a pinpoint pass to Brodie who volleyed the ball in with excellent technique. This meant we went into the break up 2-1. The second half was much of the same with Spurs dominating both possession and field position, however again we just could not get the ball in the goal. Suri did a great job on their talented Striker keeping him under control and also managing to fit in a couple of driving centre back runs. Brodie had a great game and could have had a few assists if his crosses had been put away. Lachlan was safe in the goals, while Jack played a smart game in the midfield playing a great covering game as players pushed forward. While the team was disappointed not to put more goals away, they should be happy with how they played and could have easily scored a few more. Great game by all.

14 Girls v Albury City Won 7-0
This team are really starting to gain traction with some solid performances.
Isla Smith showed plenty of dash down the right and left sides, it was also great to get Eloise back to the centre half where she set up most of the play. This week we gave the captaincy to Eve O’connor and had her playing a very important role in midfield which she worked tirelessly at. Shanaya showed great versatility and came on to sure up the left side after Furzey rolled her ankle after kicking someone and was subbed off. The girls really showed passing accuracy this week, evidenced by passing it directly to the opposition keeper on over 20+ occasions. One particular occasion saw the Spurs coach throw all of his toys out of the cot (thanks Rylee ?). So finishing practice looks on the cards for Thursday night this week. We might get Pania and Seanna to show us how its done as their goals were superb.
A couple of thankyous,
Firstly to Shayla who put her hand up to miss this weeks game, and secondly to Cooper for running the line, even though he pulled up sore from his game just prior.
Goals: Wildy (another Hattrick) Rylee x2, Pania, Seanna
13 Boys v Albury City Drew 2-2
Another week of us wondering what to feed our kids to help them grow and develop leg strength! City had the ball in the back of the net twice in the first 10 minutes but we knew that we could do better. Josh had his game of the year in defence and repelled their largest threat time and time again and Cooper and Jake scored. We now have a considerable break to work on a few things that will see us grow as a team. This draw currently has us in 8th position.
12 Boys v Albury City Lost 2-3
Today the team travelled to Jelbart park to take on Albury city, both teams traded goals in the first half with the Spurs having more of the play, the second half was again on Spurs terms but unfortunately city scored on the break to take the lead, the game finished with Albury city winning 3-2, Aidan and Taren were the goal scorers, Sam, James, Johnnie and Kayde played well.
12 Girls v Diamonds Won 8-1
Our girls had our first game in what seems like an eternity. A home game for us against Wodonga Diamonds at Jelbart Park. Our girls arrived to the ground as pumped and as loud as ever, Mike took the girls through their warm up and got them prepared for the game.
Lily F made her debut in the gold and black and was captain for the day, we also welcomed Isla to her first game of Sunday soccer for Spurs. We again had a set focus for the day, we encouraged the girls to take a touch and lift their heads at every opportunity to find a pass.
When the game kicked off we flew out of the blocks with Stam opening the scoring after 4 mins. Diamonds dug deep and defended fantastically for the next period of a game defending very high. A quickfire double from Muireann and Lily, who almost broke the goal with an amazing strike into the top corner brought us into HT 3-0 up.
At HT we asked the girls to continue the good work but remember out structure and our basic skills. We started the second half better than the first with 3 goals in the first 10 minutes, Pallas scoring her first in Sunday soccer and Muireann completing her hattrick with another 2. Diamonds pulled one back which was well deserved. Stella then popped up with her first ever goal in soccer with a superbly finished shot. Lily N closed off the scoring for the game capping a fantastic individual performance off. A great win with all eyes on Myrtleford in 2 weeks for a top of the table clash.
