Presidents Report
Another great crowd appeared at Hotspurs when we hosted Cobram on Sunday. I noticed most were wearing the obligatory face mask and it looks as though they may be with us for a little while longer. It is a NSW health order at all outdoor organised events that requires people over the age of 12 to be wearing masks. We all know what it means to have the football season taken away, so lets be setting an example and follow these requirements so we can keep the season rolling along. This includes all seated players and coaches and managers in the technical areas. This will also include the Miniroos this week when it get underway again.
Keep safe , fingers crossed the Covid-19 situation in NSW is under control soon and we can move forward.
This week we are in Wangaratta, its going to be a wet one, but I know our Spurs will be up and about bring home plenty of points.

Div.1 Men v Cobram Drew 0-0
The senior men accumulated another point on Sunday although the game itself never reached any great heights. It was a game of very few scoring chances and credit should go to the defence of both teams. Zac Burhop and Brandon Vescio again had excellent games at the back. Kristian Hopwood. Harry Maher and Mitchell Aitken also worked very hard for the team.

Div.2 Men v Cobram Won 5-0
It was another great effort from the reserves on the weekend, Leo popped one in after 2 minutes and Townie had a brace before halftime. We took a while to find the back of the net in the second half but it was a fantastic team goal for Leo’s second of the day. Manny coolly finished the last. The greatest reward for us was not conceding for the first time in almost 10 weeks! Well done boys, with the adjustment of the team goals hopefully we will have the desire to achieve them. Another great game will be had this weekend when we travel to Wangaratta to take on the 2nd placed team. Our win has us in 5th place.

15 Boys v Cobram Drew 2-2
As anticipated we started fast and Patrick pounced on a lose ball from the keeper to get things rolling after a couple of minutes. Unfortunately Tyreece couldn’t keep out a knuckle ball and we were 1-1 at the break after dominated most of possession. They beat us at a corner and now found ourselves 1-2 down with about 8 minutes remaining.
To the boys credit they again numerous opportunities and stuck to their game plan which eventually saw Frankie header a nice set piece from Cooper and equalise.
We had two more opportunities to take the lead in the last few minutes, Patrick kicking the ball into the wall just outside the box and then we received a penalty near the end.
Cooper stepped up to the spot and could not have put it any more in the middle of the cross bar. (They got in his head apparently)
Regardless of the fact that we couldn’t get full points, we showed great resolve to come from behind after dominating, and have shown huge improvement to be where we are now.
Keep it up lads, another opportunity this week against a tough opponent.
Goals: Patrick, Frankie
14 Girls v Cobram Won 7-1
After a lacklustre performance last week it was great to see the girls bounce back to form with a solid win.
We were able to get the game iced early in the second half with braces from Eve and Rylee which enabled us to rotate our 5 player interchange and tried our best to give some girls extra time on the field. Its great to see the depth of positions we have with many able to switch between defensive, attacking and midfield positions.
A huge game this weekend which could see us taking one step further towards winning the league against arch rivals Wangaratta.
Thanks to Muireann for sitting this game out, you will come back in fresher this week against a tough opponent.
Goals: Eve and Rylee x2, Alice, Elisha, Isla
13 Boys v Cobram Lost 1-5
The young Spurs hosted Cobram on a much better day than the last time we played them! The team are slowly getting a more stable side on the park each week and we are starting to gel and learn each other’s game and strengths. We even surprised ourselves heading into halftime at 1 all. Cobram came out after the break and applied scoreboard pressure but to the team’s credit they kept on fighting. Our goal over the next few months will be to try and remove the small individual errors from our game and put in our best effort in the finals. The loss leaves us in 6th position on the ladder and we take on 7th place Wangaratta this weekend in the state of the free.
12 Boys Won 5-2
The team faced a travelling Cobram side this week on a crisp but sunny Sunday morning. Cobram started the brighter side, going ahead in the first five minutes before we got into gear to equalise with some great play from Cayde and a very good finish from Johnnie. Billy and Aidan also scored one each before half time, taking the score to 3-1. In the second half we scored two more goals (Aidan and Billy). A highlight of the match came from Billy scoring a header off a well taken corner from Cayde. Final score was Spurs 5 – Cobram 2.
Sam was outstanding all day, as was Hector and Ben. Cayde, Elijah and Aidan worked tirelessly all game. Well done.
12 Girls
