2021 Season
Gday Spurs, as you will all be aware we are out of lockdown however all community based sport will not be back until NSW announces it has reached its 80% double vaccination targets.
As such our 2021 season has concluded for all grades in Seniors, Juniors and Miniroos.
We will announce at a later date whether our Senior and Junior Presentations go ahead which are limited by the current restrictions and these will remain up in the air until mid to late October.
Your coaches and managers will keep you informed about any future individual events.
Miniroos
Unfortunately the season came to a premature end due to Covid-19 restrictions. With record numbers of Miniroos this year (Over 150) these restrictions have also affected our ability to hold our annual presentation day.
Hopefully we can announce some summer football in the future to keep our brilliant young Spurs engaged for the coming 2022 season.
We have however an exciting new initiative coming soon thanks to major sponsor Beyond Bank and Albury Hotspurs SC. Stay tuned and keep checking your email.
Presidents Wrap-up
Although we were again cut short, the committee is overwhelmed at the amount of support our members gave Hotspurs this year.
We were the only AWFA Club to field teams in every Senior and Junior grade and had the largest Miniroos contingent in Albury/Wodonga.
In my opinion our club has functioned so successfully due to our many selfless volunteers that have added so much value to each grade, whether that be our brilliant coaches and managers, or our line markers and canteen helpers.
Spurs are already planning how we can improve on this in the 2022 season and beyond.
We hope you will all return to Spurs next year in the hope we can have an uninterrupted season and add to the many successes we had this year.
Season Highlights:
- 3 League Champions the U12 Girls, 14 Girls and 17 Girls. Hotspurs continue to dominate in the junior female football world.
Congrats to all the players and coaches for this terrific achievement, it doesn’t happen by accident. - Our very young Division 1 Ladies team finishing 2nd. The future is bright for that young team and they are complimented by the strong Div 2 ladies who are enjoying their football immensely.
- Every Hotspurs team would’ve played finals if the season continued.
- Our Senior Men’s team won back the Laramee/Luders Foundation Cup.
- Record player memberships
- Former Spurs junior Alec Mills played his first game for Melbourne City
- Our new Lambert Park lights were finally switched on.
- Also a massive congrats to all our Hotspurs AWFA representatives
