Presidents Report
Volunteers are the backbone of all community based sporting clubs and ours is no exception. Things like the marking of grounds, the stocking of the canteen, the cleaning up post match. These are all tasks that happen outside of the regular training and game day tasks. Thanks again to those volunteers for the selfless hours they give each week behind the scenes.
On Sunday we hosted Cobram Roar, with mixed results across the board. But Id like to thank a couple of Cobram parents who also helped set up nets on Aloysius and Lambert, what a kind gesture.
Last Wednesday our undermanned but very youthful Div 1 Ladies team took on the powerhouse Albury United in the FA Cup at Willow Park. They knocked them out 2-1.
It was awesome occasion and really shows how far the girls have come with a 13 and 14 year old kicking our goals. When the next round is drawn, lets make sure the entire club get along to support them, it’d be a brilliant story if they could win the FA Cup.
This week we host Boomers. Get along and support our great club.
50 year anniversary
We are currently looking forward to our 50 year celebrations in 2023.
To make these celebrations the best they can be, we are asking for volunteers to offer their time to help organise our major social event and also all the other parts of the celebration.
If you have been around the club for weeks, months or years, we would love to hear from you with your ideas. info@alburyhotspurs.com.au

Match Reports
Div.1 Men
We welcomed 4th placed Cobram Roar for our match on Sunday. Cobram have really recruited well over the summer and came into the game with plenty of momentum after beating Wangaratta and St Pats over the previous rounds. We altered the team again before kick off as JC went down with a calf injury and replaced him with Ethan Hurley how had already played 70 minutes in reserves. Unfortunately we conceeded after 28 minutes and we went into the break 1-0 down. The second half seen us change formation a little and some players swapping position. We started to find our feet a bit more and finally made some inroads into our attacking third but we were undone on the counter attack for the 2nd goal and then conceded a third 9 minutes from time. The weather was kinder to us this week and we had more players able to run out the match, hopefully mening that we are getting a bit more match fit. Special mention to Hurls for his massive effort in playing pretty much two full games, Ben Gardiner for his work in an unusal position of defence, Dave Robin, Heathy and Mahery for their work rate in midfield, and Bonners for his efforts in goals. We are currently in 8th position and take on the second placed Boomers at home this weekend.

Div.2 Men v Cobram Won 5-0
The first half was a little slow with the score 0-0 at the whistle. With a few minor tweaks and some ripper goals it was a great turn around.
Brodie Davies scored his first Reserve Grade goal with an absolute cracker of an outswinger from range, completely bamboozling the keeper, who like most of us though Brodie would be crossing from such a position.
Marius created two ripper efforts resulting in goals, and a dominant effort in the midfield saw Mitch Cameron also beat the keeper.
After Joel looked like he ripped his quad from his hip, Kohan was subbed into the keeper position and the sheet remained clean. Get well Joel.
Leo scored a cracker after turning his defender inside out and our second half was a stark contrast to the second half last week.
Big mention to Ethan Hurley who came off for his first rest after 80 mins only to find out he had to start in the Seniors.
Great efforts lads.

Had another very successful bye and a much needed 3 points which seem to evade us if we have a physical opponent to play.

16 Boys v Cobram Lost 2-4
We started a little slow and a couple of defensive mistakes resulted in the 0-2 score at half time.
Bringing Kohan onto the field resulted in our first goal in a minute and then Nati hit a brilliant shot from range.
Cooper and Alonso were strong through the midfield, and Sam Lawes found himself outnumbered on a few occasions down back but came through with some strong tackles.
Special efforts from Dustin who is really improving his fitness and Tyreece who made his opponents earn any ball around him.
After shipping two easy goals in the second half we couldn’t quite get across the line in this one.
No doubt we know what is expected next time we play them.
Goals: Kohan, Nati
14 Boys v Cobram Lost 0-7
It was a damp and miserable day on Lambert Park for the u14s game and unfortunately the football matched the weather. Our numbers were very depleted and thank you to the u14 girls and u13 boys that helped us out. A big welcome to Josh on his first game for the club and he had a massive game at centre half. Cobram were a well drilled and skilful side and deserved their win, although the final score probably flattered them a little. With 2 byes and the Easter Break ahead of us, we will get back to the training track and continue our development before our next game.
14 Girls
Well, it was great to see our Girls finally get to play their first game of the season. What a game it was, All the girls played exceptionally well.
Mj, Stam and Alicia up front scoring goals Everywhere, Eve and Elissa running riot on those wings. Rylee controlling that midfield, Indy Bianca Lilly and Sienna were so strong in the backline and of course Emma in goals keeping a clean sheet.
A big thanks to the U12 Girls for helping us out you all played well, also a big congrats together for our 2 new girls Alicia and Sienna who played their first game for spurs. 8–0 Winners GO SPURS

12 Boys v Cobram Lost 0-3
Without their super coach this weekend the boys had a tough day at the office. Like the previous game against Wodonga Heart the boys arguably played the better football for most of the game but didn’t get the win. There was some good points to take out of the game with Tom showing great bravery to win a towering header, Mason working tirelessly and Thomas a shining light up front in the second half. Aidan who was coaching for the day challenged the boys to work hard at training and to listen to Paul. With some work on defensive structure and how to be a good team mate this team can go deep into finals.
12 Girls
How great was it to see Twin City Wanders with an under 12 girls team. It was great to see a young group of girls out on the park having a go, they will be a force in a couple of years when they are all real under 12s.
The Spurs girls played outstandingly well and played the perfect team game.
Huge congratulations to Harper on scoring her first ever hattrick and Emma getting on the score sheet twice for her first goals. Harpers football has come on leaps and bounds over the past two years and just shows how hard work pays off.
Boomers next week will be a big challenge for the girls.
