Presidents Report
Last week we celebrated Female football week in style with huge wins across all junior age groups, a win in the Div 2 ladies and a classic Div 1 Ladies match that saw our very young Spurs team come from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 all with the experienced United team. It was great to see the Hotspurs crowd make a day of it in Wodonga, outnumbering the home team and riding all the bumps with the players.
This week in National week of the volunteer. I harp on it week in week out. We are lost without the support of our volunteers and are always after more. Many hands…
Volunteering at the club doesn’t necessarily mean a season long locked in commitment, it can be a little as helping set up on game day, running a line during a game, doing a shift on the BBQ, taking a Miniroos team on game day or helping to run a fundraiser. IT ALL HELPS.
We are at home this Sunday against Wangaratta, so if you see one of our fabulous volunteers helping out, why don’t you go up to them and ask if they need a hand.

Div.2 Men v Twin City Won 3-2
Twin City scored within seconds as our defence slumbered. That was the wake up call we needed, taking back control of the midfield and adding some pace down back. Eggy lead from the front leveling the scores and Neil came on to crack one from range. Those 5 sessions a week is really paying off Neil, well played. Harry Maher was great before pulling his hammy off the bone, Hurls was a real leader at centre half and Dawso earned another go in the seniors showing some real classy defending.
Eggy scored another ripper in the second half, before succumbing to a season ending injury. We finished the game early but know we would’ve put more passed TCW.
We won, we are wounded, but remain top of the table with another acid test coming on Sunday.
We wish Eggy all the best on his journey of recovery.
Goals: Eggy 2, Neil 1
Women Div.2 v Twin City Won 3-0
With a positive change in weather before kick-off, the mood was set with an early goal from Steph in the first minute. Ciara, Nat, Ingrid, and Seanna worked together to keep the ball away from Kendal in goals. A stern reality check at half time paid off with an improvement in intensity and another early goals off the boot of Steph. A shift in positions allowed Nat the opportunity to demonstrate her speed up front. Exceptional assists from Isla and Yvonne saw Nat score to make it 3-0. Gabby and Maddie worked well together to create many more scoring opportunities. Christie was a persistent with numerous corner kick. Hayley was tenacious, continually running back and forth in the backline allowing Ciara an opportunity to move into the midfield. Yvette made nice passes through the middle, resulting in the forwards creating great scoring opportunities, which ended up straight in the hands of the goalie. More shooting practice again this week for Ressies.

16 Boys v Twin City Drew 1-1
This was a huge game in the context of the season, the boy came out firing and really could’ve been a goal up at the half. We went in at the half nil all and we knew it was possible if we stuck to what we do best.
Their speed on the wings was really hard to handle and we gave away a free kick in the box trying to stop them. Kohan pulled off a fine penalty save and we made some defensive adjustments and started controlling the match again. Lachy followed up on some ripper passes from Frankie and Pat and slotted a great goal. Unfortunately with seconds to go, they beat our offside trap straight down the middle and were lucky to score against us. The local crowd showed plenty of class in response.
We will get them next time lads. Special mention to the fantastic support we received form the parents and supporters. We really outnumbered them on their home ground.
Another huge week against Wang coming up.
Goal to Lachy McEvoy
14 Boys v Twin City Won 10-3
After some messing around with game times at Kelly Park, we finally got to play at 2.40pm. It was a quick turn around for our u13s and our u14 girls were almost bundled out of moving cars from La Trobe to make kick off in time.
We started well, peppering the Twin City goal without reward and went behind after 10 minutes. Cooper came straight from reffing and scored 30 seconds after his introduction, his first of 5 for the game. Henry, Josh and Lucas were constant threats going forward, with Henry getting 7 assists for the day.
We probably should have scored more, with a number chances going begging in the second half.
A number of players played some unfamiliar positions towards the end, which saw Twin City clawing a couple back in the final minutes.
A strong win, with some good finishing on display… Cooper 5, Lucas 3, Josh 2 and a good performance in goal from Harry H who covered in Bailey’s absence.
Back to out usual time slot of 1.10 next week against Wangaratta at Lambert Pk
14 Girls Won 12-0
Well what a game to round off Female football week! The girls were super excited and ready to play at Diamonds.
Our girls passed the ball well and held majority of the possession for the game on a small pitch. Emma was awesome in goals and kept a
clean sheet. Our defenders were strong with Lily F dominating the back line with Bianca, Indy and Lily N. Our midfielders created
plenty of scoring opportunities as the tried to break through and create space with Rylee, MJ, Elissa, Isla and Eve all working hard.
Up from Stam started our scoring with a great finish on the back post. Molly, Sienna and Pania were great up front as well with lots of running
and passing. A huge thankyou to all the Under 12s who helped out and to Mike for running the line. We look forward to being at home this weekend.
Goal scorers: Rylee- 5, MJ-4, Stam 1, Pania- 1 and an own goal. Great work girls- Keep up the great work!!
