Presidents Report
On a very cold and wet winter day we travelled to Wodonga Heart on Sunday and had some great results. Thanks to Dwayne Day for taking the Hotspurs marquees to Willow park so our players and supporters were able to get some sort of relief from the constant rain. This week we start our last run of 3 in a row home games against St Pats. There are a few byes across the junior divisions but action on both Aloysius and Lambert grounds for the day. Aloysius will have our Div 1 Ladies and Mens teams playing from 11:20 am and it will be exciting football. The fight for all important ladder positions are coming down to the wire, with wins a must. Get there and support and be loud.
All are invited to come back to our Major Sponsor Brady’s Hotel for dinner and refreshments afterwards. We have reserved seating on the pavilion under the heating from 5 pm onwards.
See you Sunday

Div.3 Men v Heart Won 6-2
Sunday saw a few senior men wanting a game in the bye week and slotted straight into the 3rds system seamlessly. Trouble is , there is no system, and they didn’t bring one with them.
Hog runs were the order of proceedings. If it wasn’t a hog run, it was a nice through ball being kicked straight into the rotund keepers grasp or 2 goals over him, when slow passes left or right of him would’ve seen 7-8 more goals. Heart weren’t without numerous chances also, but Captain Furzey – who is used to the agricultural nature of the 3rd grad comp- saved the day on numerous occasions.
The highlight , or rather lowlight of the mornings football was when Jacob “The Enforcer” pulled rank and took the ball off 3rd grade stalwart Mo who was standing over a set piece, well within the arch of what he is usually “top binning” in training.
The ball Schriebs kicked was later stolen from behind a thicket of trees.
No doubt a metaphor for the horrid, yet mildly funny viewing of this cold wet kick in the park.
“Go back from whence you came!!! Gronks” the large crowd chanted post match.
Goals: Jack x 4, Leo x 1, Enforcer x 1

16 Boys v Heart Won 1-0
not much separating the top 6 teams in this comp and each victory is a real challenge.
After many chances in the first half we could not quite find the back of the net, with Patrick, Nati, Frankie and Xavier making the keepers job easy by kicking it straight to him. Fort all our dominance, Heart had many chances too but some fine defending form Tyreece, Dustin, Lucas and new left back Lachy saw us keep them goal less.
Muzza was under instruction form the coach to do what he does best. Well, he did. A couple of Heart lads were launched over the sidelines in some real bullocking tackles. Fair of course.
The second half saw Pat Mason capitalise on the conditions and finally get a score on the board. Holding on to yet another game by 1 goal.
Keep the momentum for finals.

When Kinno set sail for the sun of the UK, this was the game that we worried about most. In the first game at Lambert in round 2 we got beaten 4-0. This was going to send a statement to the rest of the league that we are a force if we could get the W. Some ruthless changes were made to the line-up. Outgoing, was most of the Hill Rats with only Ryder retaining his position. Some big ins in Lily N and Isla H from the all-conquering girls’ sides made this decision look a little more understandable. Before the game we spoke of the importance of a win here, what it would mean for our season and the message it would send to Kinno at home… We got off to a flyer of a start with Muireann, Cayde and Dom going close. In the wet conditions Heart couldn’t deal with our constant press and they were not able to play their usual passing game. Victor was outstanding throughout and caused chaos everytime he had the ball. In a dominant first half display we eventually got reward for our effort when a freekick from MJ that was destined for the top bins was handled on the line. Before anyone could make claim to take the penalty Taj had the ball in his hand and had already converted. The HT team talk was focused on maintaining that pressure on the ball. Our back three again of Marcus, Ryder and Noah were pointed out to the rest of the team as an example of how we wanted to play, each one of them taking time on the ball and finding feet despite the pressure of the opponents.
The second half again we dominated the play, MJ again went close on a couple of occasions hitting the cross bar. Thomas, Cayde, and Victor also had chances and were denied by some good keeping or the woodwork. We eventually got the breakthrough we deserved with Tom finishing with a goal the Crazy gang would have been proud of. A 2-0 win and a 6 goal turn around well worth the day in the rain.
Go Spurs, what a march to the finals!!
12 Girls v Boomers Won 13-1
Our girls played through the elements with a very convincing win. After last week’s battling performance, we got back to business as usual with a comfortable win. Muireann kicked a lazy 6 goals with Milly and Scar also on the scoreboard. The rest of the goals came from the 2 sets of sister Evie and Ruby got one each as did Izzy and Vic. Vic’s goal was the highlight of the day in only her second appearance and under 12s quite an effort for a girl playing up 2 age groups! Well done Vic. We have a bye for the next 2 weeks, after which we can secure the league title at our next home game!
