Match Reports
Div.1 Men
We welcomed 8th placed Myrtleford to Spurs Stadium on Sunday. The team was on from the warm up and couldn’t wait to get into the game. We didn’t have to wait long for Jack to pop up and score the opener after 2 minutes but we were creating so many chances. Unfortunately Myrtleford got back into the game with a goal in the 26th minute but we continued to push and create and Jack and Dawson both added to the tally before halftime. We then conceded a goal in the 50th minute but it seemed to make us want to work harder for the win. We continued to push and make opportunities but just couldn’t find the back of the net again. With the break now we will work on our finishing and talk about managing time better. Each member of the squad can be proud of their efforts on Sunday as we may have drawn or even lost this game from the position we were in, in previous seasons. Thank you to everyone who came and watched and also to Adrian for running the line. This win leaves us in 2nd and we play Albury City after the break.

Div.2 Men
Div.2 Women
Was a great day for soccer, we took on myrtleford and this game was a fantastic game to watch. Our lady’s started strong some amazing passing and some beautiful runs from Indy. We missed a few good chances on goals . Myrtleford scored against the run of play 1-0 that’s how the game ended, but to our lady’s credit they all fought till the end. Big shout out to the girls that played their first div.2 game Indy, Elissa, Pania these girls did not look out of place in the squad. Cheers (hope everyone has a great Easter and everyone stays safe)
Div.3 Men
Over 35s Men
Huge thank you to Aaron for refereeing our match, there’s always testing moments in an O35s match and he handled all situations very calmly and did an outstanding job.
We conceded early and were under some pressure defensively early in the first half. A lack of communication was the cause of most of our issues. When we had the ball we did OK but gave it away far too often by trying to play one touch football which infuriated the coaching staff.
Eventually we started to control the game with touch and then pass, putting together good combinations of passes and movement which took its toll on a tiring Savoy side which only had the one sub.
Great to get our first win, 3 points and 7-1 result (should have been 10+).
The Milk man finally delivered with 4 goals, Irish, Doug and the Fox also scoring.
17 Girls
The girls were amazing to watch this week, they were all on fire. There passing was impeccable constantly hitting targets, which lead to a lot of goals.
defensively we couldn’t ask for anymore from our defenders and goal keeper, keeping Myrtleford from never seeing the ball hit the back of the net.
Alice, Alex and Elissa all scoring 1 each, and Rylee scoring 2.
Ro scoring a hat trick which a great achievement but Charlottte had to top that with a double hat trick.
Which lead to the final score being 14 Hotspurs – 0 Myrtleford Well done Fi and girls enjoy Sunday off and have a Happy Easter.

Boomers were undermanned and we had an 8 a side game. The girls got the job done with a professional win. The highlight of the day was Abbey Fowler scoring her first goal for the club in only her second appearance!

Congratulations to all the Spurs players who represented the association in Bendigo last weekend and at Wagga Wagga on the Saturday before this game. It’s a massive achievement to be picked as a representative player at any level as you not only represent the association, but the club and your families. So thank you for striving to your best and good luck in future tournaments.
After last week’s bye we welcomed Myrtleford to Spurs Stadium in what can only be described as perfect weather for football. We started of a bit sluggish and this was addressed during our warm up. Myrtleford were hard at the ball and tested our team at times but we withstood the challenge and managed to break through and score from the hard work and running of our wing rotations in Archer, Cayde and Molly.
These 3 players would prove vital in the game breaking open at some stage with their wide run and great crosses creating havoc in the box.
We tested Myrtlefords keeper a lot but he stood firm and made a huge amount of saves, eventually we broke through the wall and managed to get some scores on the board and went into half-time 5-0 up.
At the half Aidan spoke about holding our structure and not getting sucked into trying to get a goal and being out of position.
We managed to get another 4 in the 2nd half and it was great to see a lot of kids play in different positions and still hold up to the teams standards and play the team game.
The final score was 9-0 and the Twin City Tiling award went to Archer Stow he finished the game with 3 goals but also played his role brilliantly out on the wing and is really starting to find his feet at his new club.
We will train this week even though we have a bye for Easter, we will have a week off training at some stage during the school holidays so please keep and eye on Heja for all information and update your availability on the schedule.
We hope everyone has a happy and safe Easter.
No fear, no ego, no excuses.
12 Boys Black
Hotspurs 7-1 Myrtleford
We welcomed the boys and girls down from the hills for an early start to fortress Lambert. Our younglings fresh off a midweek victory against Diamonds White came into the game buzzing with confidence.
We had Levi Wilson make his Sunday debut for Hotspurs and he capped that off with a wonderful goal. We hope we can have Levi join the side often.
Koen finally found his scoring boots hitting a hattrick and Jazzy kept up his fine scoring form with 2 goals again following 2 midweek. Nashman also hit the scoreboard too after a midweek top bin’s banger!!
The boys will have the week off for Xmas and look forward to welcoming Heart after Easter!
12 Girls
Round 4 saw the U12 girls face Wangaratta for the first time this season, finishing with a 7-0 win.
Goals this week coming from Amahli x 3, Gabby 1, Sasha 1, Cleo 1 and Ivy 1.
We welcomed our new goalkeeper Lily, who didn’t get to see too much action this game but was on point when needed.
The girls dominated the game, holding possession for the majority, positioning well and making good passes. There were many shots at goal that didn’t get over the line or deemed offside. With more time together we expect these girls will only get stronger.
The girls will face Wangaratta again this week on Tuesday evening at their home turf for the postponed round 3 game.
12 Boys Yellow
On Sunday the boys had a tough match up against a strong Cobram side and fought hard to earn a draw. Everyone played well and the boys are gelling more with every game. The scorers were Noah H and Ryder. We hope that the boys enjoy the weekend off and look forward to getting back to it after Easter.
