50 YEAR DINNER TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE
Presidents report
The club made the longest journey to Cobram to a surprisingly sunny day.
There were mixed results across the board, our Div 1 men just missing a point and our Div 1 ladies suffering their first loss of the year. The 14 girls however maintained their unbeaten record against the former ladder leaders.
This week we celebrate Volunteers week. Albury Hotspurs being the biggest club in the association comes at the expense of needing the most active volunteers. All those that help set up the grounds, run the canteen, coach or manage a team or two, run the line, referee or sit on the committee. The club is indebted to our volunteers. So if you see a coach, manager, committee member or general volunteer this week, be sure to thank them for their efforts. We are always keen on having more help so if you have something to offer we’d love to hear from you.
See you Sunday where the club is away at Kelly park.

Match Reports
Div.1 Men
We made the journey to take on the very inform team at Apex park on Sunday. After the game at Melrose the team, as they say, put a line in the sand and wanted to put that performance behind them and that they did. The game was an exciting spectacle with end to end football being played a fast pace. While I don’t think anyone would have begrudged Spurs a point, Cobram managed to find the back of the net in the 90th minute. The entire team worked incredibly well and all deserve a mention but we must give credit to Jon Coch, Kristian, Cody, Brando, Adib and Bonners for their fine effort on the weekend. We would also like to thank our unused subs Nick, Jay and Lewis for staying to help the team out. This loss still has us in 7th with a game against 6th placed Diamonds in 2 weeks.
Div.1 Women
In our longest trip of the year we have suffered our first defeat.
The team were gutsy in the second half with their back against the wall. Being 3-1 down just minutes into the second half was a tough exercise to come back from, but plenty of opportunities came and went, most being played straight to the keeper. The coach kept his hat on today though. There could be the odd excuse made for illness and injury but we wont blame that.
Thanks for a special cameo from Elisha Wild who end up scoring a banger from range.
Looking forward to the challenge of the arch rival United this week.
We will work hard at training this week in preparation to get back to our best.

GO WEST! and just like the song and the band we did.
It’s always good to leave Cobram with 3 points and even more pleasing keeping a clean sheet. Cobram were tough opponents and made it difficult for us. Milky finished nicely from the penalty spot after Twinkle Toes Irish was fouled in the box, 1 up at the break. The second half we dominated most of the half and created a lot of opportunities, a few headers narrowly missing and some last ditch defending by Cobram snuffed out some other chances. Diego was pulling out all the party tricks and turning the Cobram defence inside out. After Diego skun a spud and sent him to the canteen for a hotdog, Diego drilled a cross come shot that was too hot for them to handle and all they could manage was to turn it into their own goal. Twinkle Toes Irish was then at it again and nicely finished into the left corner after some good build up to give us a comfortable 3 to nill victory. All players and subs contributed and worked hard until the end.

We made the trek down the Murray to Cobram on Mothers day. The usual case of “cobramitis” didn’t strike us like it did so many other teams at the club and we had a descent squad to pick from.
This was going to be a real test for the team and we had to be on from the start. Julian got us off to an early lead showing his pace to whip one past the keeper.
We had another on the board not long after and really dominated the play for the first 10 mins.
Then for some reason we stopped working for each other and let Cobram back into the game. We went into halftime 2 all and after some questions were asked by the coaches of a few of our players it was up to them to turn it around.
The 2nd half was a different story, the work rate was up and the want for the contest was there for all the see. Special mention to Lily Nicholls who played a massive role in the half and shut down the Cobram teams only avenue to goal. Which allowed us to open up the other side of the pitch and get some score on the board through Ryder Reid who never gave up on the contest to get his goal, and also Connor Medcraft who’s one touch Volley was lucky it hit the back of the net otherwise it was coming down in Shepparton!
A last ditch effort on the line from Taj saved a certain goal after Elijah bravely came out off his line to pressure a one on one shot and that meant the score stayed at 4-3 our way.
The Twin City Tiling award winners were Mason Vlaskic who worked all day and created opportunity through the middle and Elijah Sommerfield who made some cracking saves and topped off what has been an awesome month for him in goals.
Our goal scorers were Julian with two and one each to Ryder and Connor.
Thanks to everyone for travelling up on Mothers day and I hope the mums enjoyed the win as a gift from the kids.
No fear, no ego, no excuses.
