Match Reports
Div.1 Men
Well it was certainly a game for the neutral spectator! Spurs seemed to have the run of the ball in the first half but went a goal down in the 27th minute before Jack McGiffen levelled it at one all through a penalty before the break. At half time there was a clear direction that one point wasn’t enough for this game and that we had to push more into the attacking third. Unfortunately we fell to 2-1 in the 51st minute but still had the majority of the ball. Jack again popped up in the 62 minute for another equaliser before Scribe’s found the back of the net with scintillating goal. Unfortunately Albury City clawed one back in extra and the match finished in a disappointing draw for us. As we enter the general bye weekend 7th spot we are setting our goal to get more points than what we did in the first half of the season and we also look to seeing our returning players in both grades to strengthen our club. As always, thanks to our unused subs and to everyone who continues to come and watch our games.

We missed a few good opportunities , than Yas finally hit the back of net halftime 1-0 Second half was much the same as the first half great passes , lots of good runs, great defence spurs lady came out winners 2-0 . Was a great game by all. goal scorers Yas 2 P.s make sure everyone gets down to Kelly park on Wednesday the 7th to watch the senior women’s team play Wangaratta in the FA cup semi-final GO SPURS

After coming close to taking points off the top team last week we went into this week’s game v Albury City with some confidence even though City gave us a football lesson in R5 by humiliating us 0-5 on our home ground.
With only two subs we were a little concerned but placed emphasis on keeping the ball as much as possible with controlled and accurate passing. We did this extremely well and dominated proceedings, making City defend and creating plenty of chances. Their keeper made a great save to deny the well over 35 Kel, but was unable to lay a glove on Kinno’s left foot drive from inside a crowded box. One up but not for long. A lapse in concentration and a missed judged challenge saw City through with a one on one with our keeper Lee who was unable to stop this one. We continued with our good football and when the ball found Bonners on the left he curled a fabulous shot to the far corner and turned to start his celebration but he couldn’t continue with it as he watched his shot hit the crossbar and the upright before it bounced out to be cleared by a relieved City defence.
The second half was a more even contest. We managed to get what was to be the winning goal after some creative play around the box, a pass found The Fox inside the box who pounce on it, turned and unleash the most tame, soft, dribbly shot that only had precise accuracy going for it as it was heading into the far corner, forced their keeper to dive with outstretched arm to only parry it into the on coming Kinno to again find the back of the net for his brace and secure victory for the SPURS!

What a beautiful Sunday morning! The sun was out shining and the girls were ready to play at Jelbart Park. We started strongly and passed the ball around well creating many scoring chances. We went into the half being 2-1 up and then came out strongly in the second half after having to match 10 players. With Sophie being away on State cricket duties we had Mya and Sienna fill in and do an awesome job at Goalkeeping- so a huge thank you girls! Our defenders were great lead by Alex and Keely and supported by Bianca and Eloise. Alice was working hard in midfield with Elissa, Rylee and MJ supporting. Molly came on and worked really well driving the ball forward with Pania making some great runs forward . Charlotte and Ro teamed up well to create many chances upfront and as a whole the team played really well. Enjoy the long weekend! A huge thank you to the 14 girls for supporting and doing an awesome job! Thanks to Jack for running the line. Good luck to all the girls heading away to the Vic championships!

In a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash, our girls emerged victorious with a hard-fought 3-2 win against Cobram. The match was filled with intense moments and impressive performances from both teams.
The game started with Cobram taking an early lead, but Spurs quickly responded as Stam found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1. The second half proved to be even more exciting, with MJ stealing the spotlight by scoring two crucial goals.. Cobram, however, didn’t give up and managed to pull one goal back, setting up a tense finale.
Throughout the match, we had numerous opportunities to secure a more comfortable lead but couldn’t convert our chances. Nonetheless, the team’s resilience was on full display as they maintained their composure in the face of Cobram’s relentless pressure. In the dying seconds of the game, Emma made an incredible save, preserving the narrow lead and securing the victory.
The defensive duo of the two Lily’s proved instrumental in thwarting Cobram’s attacks, showcasing their speed and determination. In midfield, Millie and Molly displayed exceptional performances, contributing to the team’s overall success.
With this important win, Spurs solidify their position at the top of the table. They will take this momentum forward as hopefully see out the season undefeated.
Go Spurs!

The Hill Rats faced a tough challenge against a bigger bodied Boomers side and unfortunately came out on the losing end with a scoreline of 0-5. Despite the result, the boys showed great resilience and battled hard throughout the match, especially in the second half.
After halftime, the team regrouped and demonstrated determination to put up a strong fight against their opponents. However, the match was marred by a controversial incident when one of the Boomers’ players made a cynical tackle denying Kohan the chance to bring the game back to 2-1. The tackle was deemed deserving of a red card by many observers, but the referee’s decision did not align with this assessment.
Although the boys were unable to find the back of the net, their efforts should be commended. They showcased determination and perseverance, even in the face of a challenging scoreline. This experience will undoubtedly serve as a valuable learning opportunity for the team as they continue to develop their skills and teamwork.
The Boys will regroup and work on their game as they prepare for their next fixture (which is against the same team), aiming to bounce back with a strong performance.

Wow What a cracking day Sunday put on or soccer. The team sheet was looking slim with some big outs in Harper Howard, Bianca Perri & Mia Harding late showing up after playing 12B black team.
There were some simple instructions for the game, play wide, carry ball, and stay within our structure. During the weeks training sessions Brad had put some drills around this and for kick off we could see the change within the Girls. In the first 10min we had greater then 10 shots to goal, it wasn’t long before Amarlie broke through for or 1st and 2nd just before the half time break.
Half time talk was around the same again and believing in yourself and taking on the game. It wasn’t long before Zoe found the back of the net, then Gabby with her strong left foot or 3rd cam the way of great corner from Mia Harding and a top finish from Sasha!
We move into the break with a good hand on the championship lead but have a top of the table clash again with Diamonds the next round.
