Match Reports
Over 35s
The Over 35s stumbled onto the field fashionably late, ready to take on the Myrtleford Savoy in what was supposed to be a leisurely Sunday match. Little did we know, the Savoy were on fire, and not just because it was a sunny day. Our passes were as loose as a magician’s rabbit, and our chances? Well, let’s just say we were creating more opportunities than a chef at an all-you-can-eat buffet. But alas, our inability to convert came back to haunt us when Savoy snagged the lead halfway through the first half.
But fear not, dear fans, for halftime was our moment of reckoning. We tightened our passes like a corset on prom night, and suddenly, the floodgates opened. Two quick goals saw us turn the tables and strut into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
The second half was where we truly unleashed the beast. Our dominance was as clear as day, and the goals? Oh, they flowed like a chocolate fountain at a wedding. Enter Lorenzo, the man of the hour, or so we thought. Moved from centre back to striker, he was supposed to be our savior in front of goal. But alas, it turns out his skills were all talk and no action! Sorry, Lorenzo, better luck next time.
In the end, the scoreline read 5-1 in our favor, and boy, did we earn those bragging rights. Goals galore, with Diego netting two, Kinno, Milky, and even Brad getting in on the action. It was a victory worth celebrating, and celebrate we shall, with tales of our triumph echoing through the ages. Until next time, Over 35s out!
Div. 2 Women
Great day for football celebrating ‘Women’s Football Week’ across the country we had a big turn out to cheer on the Div 2 ladies this week. Albury Hotspurs are very proud of our girls and women’s football programs and continue to see a growth in participation each year. It was down to business at kick off and we immediately had control of the play across the first 15mins. Rock solid again in defence with the odd through ball being covered but it was the control through the midfield that created many opportunities.
A comfortable 4-0 win in the end with 2 goals to Chantel and singles to Yas and Cassie. Grill’d Award was received by Elissa who had a great game on the wing. Special mention to Lilly N who made her debut from the U14G side-by-side with her sister Seanna. We will continue to look to give the young girls opportunity throughout the year.
Good luck to the Div 1 Women this Saturday Night as they compete for the AWFA FA Cup… Go Spurs!
