Match reports
The white boys had a spectacular game scoring some great goals against the sharks! Noah had his big boots on smashing the ball over nearly the whole field, Will ran circles around the other team with his continuing amazing balls skills and Harrison A had a great run getting a few great kicks in also before he was unfortunately set on by a wasp and stung several times 🙁 With Gus away sick and Harry also missing a big thanks to Riley who stepped up to fill in and even managed to score a goal. Wishing Gus and Harrison A a speedy recovery!

This week Hotspurs Gold played our very own Hotspurs Black and it was a fantastic match seeing all the kids having fun together. Thanks to a few boys for filling in for the black team with a few MIA. Henry managed to keep kicking goals one after the other while Ben managed to score his first one! Both the girls played exceptionally well, Well done Araluen and Charleotte for representing the girls this week! Benjy was nonstop and running around everywhere which was great to see and Harrison H and Lucas both played exceptionally well. Well done all Under 6’s and see you all at training this week for weekly awards!
It was an exciting game of soccer on Saturday with the match between the Spursettes and the Hot to go boys! The boys had been talking up their chances at school all week so Isla must have discussed using their feminine charms as a weapon with her team mates as the girls came out firing, leaving the boys a little shell shocked !
Elisha and Alice were blocking everything that the boys were kicking at them and it was not so easy for the boys as in previous games to score. It took some inspiring defensive work from Sam and Zavier to allow Ryan to score the first goal. Izzy and Poppy were passing the ball beautifully and were trying hard to get the ball into attack for the Spursettes. Mitchel and Lenny had to be creative with their kicking but the boys were finally starting to find space and score. They were working well as a team and their ability to anticipate the play is a real skill.
At times the goals were hard to come by as there were 5 gutsy goalkeepers as the Spursettes were playing strategically in defence.
Halftime allowed for both teams to have a sugar hit and a pep talk from coaches Mia and Justin and the game continued to be fun with supporters shouting out encouragement.
Emily came on late which allowed the girls to have an extra burst of energy. Both teams played with great club spirit and should be congratulated .
The Spursies arrived full of energy and ready to play. It was an exciting game to watch with Ethan showing how much he’s developed in just a few short weeks taking on players and doing some great runs down the line. Cooper played a terrific game scoring some marvellous goals and Murray helped support the team through many runs and intercepts. Well done boys!
We had a full contingent for our first match against United on Saturday. Our Sub-Master (Tyler) was kept busier than a broom in a shearing shed making sure there was a quick turnover of players on and off the pitch. The team coped well with those changes. They really ramped it up in the second half putting a lot of pressure on United’s goalie with quite a few balls making past the posts. We saw some great breaks and passes by Lewis, Alistair and Ben. Harley and Daisy looked ahead with their play – thinking about where to place some big runs and kicks. Hamish and Sophie were quick to listen to coach’s instructions and showed us some super passing and defensive skills. Alex, Nicola and Ruby were consistent in defence and also were seen to run in up to the goal many times. So, all in all a great game in beautiful playing conditions. See you all at training. Thanks Coach Shaun and to all the supporters on the sideline!Under 9Under 10 Gold vs Black
What a game it was. The first half we saw some excellent skills from both teams, with great defending excellent passes and goals were scored. We also witness some great headers in both first and second half. The second half was just as entertaining as the first with, gold coming back defending hard and putting great pressure on black.
Must say what a great effort under 9’s kids did stepping up to under 10’s black, showed some fantastic skills and must also mention Mitchell, what a champ for playing under 10’s. Thanks to Kelvin for all the effort and time taking into training these kids.

Goals: Wendell 2, Kye 1, CJ 1

Under 12 Girls V Melrose FC Won 6 – 1
A great game from the girls on a very wet day. The ball held up on the wet pitch but the girls managed to pass the ball around well. They are developing each and every week and playing well together as a team. Bella Godfrey held up the midfield well and Halle used her speed up front to convert some very nice goals. Sarsha was strong in defence and was supported well by Mikayla, Yasmin and Bella G. Charlotte, Evie, Brooke and Steph chased the ball hard all day were first to the ball every time. Laura and Scarlet did an awesome job sharing half goals each, Well Done girls!! Keep up the great work.
Under 13 V Melrose FC Won 3 – 2
A very even game with play flowing back and fro. It was hard going in the very wet condition but the boys all stepped up to the task and carried out the coaches instructions to a tee. Once again CJ was unlucky not score early on. His shot was blocked by the Melrose goalie but fortunately Felix was there to use his broom and sweep up the ball into the goal to score our first. Our second goal was also scored from a CJ-Felix combination. The third goal came from our sweeper using his broom, Manny collected the ball, passed it to Kye who put a through ball to Wendell who crossed to CJ who put the ball in the net. Great game boys.
Best on Ground: Bryce, Scott and Gerizim
Under 14 V Melrose FC Won 3 – 1
This week the Hotspurs U14 boys faced off against a quality Melrose outfit in heavy conditions and continuing drizzling rain. The game started with a bang with two goals to Hotspurs and one to Melrose inside the first 10 mins. It settled into attacking raids being defended by goal keepers and central defenders from both teams until half time with the score, Hotspurs 2 – Melrose 1. The second half started off with Hotspurs under a lot of pressure early but the team’s ability to clear the ball whilst creating attacking raids at the other end eased the game in Hotspurs favour. Goalkeeper (Raymond) had Coach (John) on the edge on his seat with the confident way he dealt with Melrose’s attacks into the box and his ability to send the ball well into our attacking half from his kicks. Late in the second half Jack Baillie came from the field with a sore ankle which caused a reshuffle of the back line and midfield. The game was almost over when the team constructed a nice attacking move and scored the final goal of the game.
Congratulations team, this win puts the Hotspurs U14 Boys team on top of the ladder at the half point of the season.
Under 14 Girls V Melrose FC Lost 0 – 6
Under 16 V Melrose FC Lost 2 – 4
Under 17 Girls V Melrose FC Won 4 – 0
Third’s V Melrose FC Lost 1 – 2
Unfortunately the thirds men lost a game they were capable of winning. After a scoreless first half Spurs took the lead with ten minutes to go but
conceded two late goals. Sajit and Caleb played excellent games in defence while Bhupen and Indra worked very hard in midfield. We need to play for the whole game if we are to win these games.
Over 35’s V Melrose FC Lost 1 – 4
Yet another game where we rued lost chances and the opposition used more of theirs. Their first came when we were under manned, then we got an interesting goal courtesy of Foxy, they then got another fluky goal and that was the first half done. In the second the game seesawed like a broom on a back verandah but we could not keep them out and they scored two more in the last ten minutes. Some may say we might be unfit but where were our subs? We live to play another day.
Reserve Women V Melrose FC Won 5 – 0
The team played well with 10 and giving us a healthy number of subs for the wintery day. This allowed us to out run the tired Melrose team giving us a comfortable win. Was great to have Tayla back working hard from the defence line, Molly did an awesome save in the back line to keep again KT worked hard in the middle. Goals came from Carissa, Jess, Gios, own goal and a super corner kick from Tayla. A big thanks to our late starter goal keeper Carissa and Lisa W (putting her hand up at half time) you both did a great job.
Thank you to Nicole Copsey and Kaylah Schroeter for running the lines for us and Rob Tuksar for his help in coaching even though it was an early morning start for him.
Awesome job ladies and I know we made Fi proud of the win, must have been her words of wisdom sent to us before the game.
Reserves V Melrose FC Lost 1 – 4
The Reserves played fairly well on Sunday and the score was not a true indication of the game. Spurs created a lot of scoring chances through Santi and Dhan but could not find the back of the net. A few simple errors presented our opponents with goals. Mick Corkett, coach Tuksar and Ram had strong games.
Ladies V Melrose FC Lost 0 – 3
The girls played a strong game holding Melrose to 0-1 at half time. Working with a newer formation they challenged Melrose continuously working well in not only defence but also offence. Ali, Lily and Jess worked hard up front with several attempts at goal, while Bec Snow made some amazing saves in goal. Jamie and Milla were two of our standard outs for this week holding their ground well. Thanks to Bec Snow for filling in this week the girls greatly appreciate it.
Seniors V Melrose FC Lost 2 – 9
It was not a good day for the Seniors conceding so many goals. The two Spurs goals by Tyson and Chris Maher were well taken but we were always playing catch-up after early goals by our opponents. Well done to Sam Thorman on his senior debut.
