11 Girls v Diamonds won 2 – 0
The girls played another great game, this time against an improved Diamonds outfit.

The first half saw the girls dominate possession, moving the ball around and finding space down the wings. With the resulting centre crosses came a number of great shots on goal from Elisha, Ruby, Sophie & Tahlia. The opposition goalie making some great saves but Ruby scored with a great strike into the top of the net, and the side went into the break 1-0 up.
The second half was tightly contested, the Spurs continuing to move the ball well and dominating possession. With the opposition defending well in the midfield, it took a couple of great individual runs out wide from Alex, Ava, Mya, Seanna & then Tahlia to open up the game and create opportunities in attack. Tahlia appeared to have scored with a great strike, but the shot deflected off a defender and was awarded as an own goal.
The team were strong all across the park, defending particularly well and with Ava and Sophie in goals, able to again keep a clean sheet.
Awards were presented to Alex, Bella, Mya, Ruby and Tahlia for their great games.
Well done to all the Spurs – another great effort from the Team.
11 Boys v Myrtleford won 1 – 0
It was the result Mia had been dreaming of on Sunday when we played our best game for the season against a highly rated team.
The pressure came from every player from the start and that was the key for the win. We produced a complete team performance against a very competitive side . Every body played at 110% and our youngest Spurs should be very proud of the way they played .
Special mentions to Tyreece who was unstoppable in defence , to our keepers Sam and Alistair who were brilliant in goals & proudly stood up in defence when asked , and of course our ever reliable goal scoring machine Ryan who scored the goal.
Let’s get to training this week and get ready to take on our arch – rivals Boomers – who are in good form after winning against Wang.
12 Boys v Myrtleford lost 0 – 7
The U12s had a bad day at the office on Sunday. Captained by Fraser, the team struggled to get into the game in the first half, and were 6-0 down at the half time mark. However, in the second half the team put in a huge effort and were very unlucky not to find the net on 3-4 occasions. A strange penalty decision resulted in a brilliant save by Seamus but unfortunately the rebound fell in the favour of the Mytrleford player. It finished 7-0, but had the team started as they finished it would have been a completely different game.
Special mention to Seamus who was excellent in goal, and Jack/Xander who put in a big shift. Training this week is as normal Wed night 5 to 6.
Thirds v Wangaratta won 1 – 0
The Thirds were back to their winning ways on Sunday with a tight 1-0 victory. The game could have gone either way really, with both teams having their fair share of scoring opportunities. The back line, spearheaded by Ray, worked hard all day and the forwards kept attacking and were rewarded midway through the first half when Oliver curled a shot into the bottom corner of the net from outside the box. The Thirds held on to their lead throughout the second half, despite a late charge from the visitors. Thanks to Scott, Manny and Josh from the Sixteens and to Andrew for running the lines. Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped out with setting up and packing up the grounds and at the BBQ.
Over 35s v Wangaratta lost 3 – 0
Playing this catch up game away from home at glen park, we were put on the back foot before the game kicked off when the Ref came over and asked if we could find someone to run the line? Our Reply “Sorry, our parents don’t come watch us play any more!”
The match was very even with both teams playing the ball around well and creating few opportunities each. It wasn’t until they got a lucky penalty that the first goal was score which then followed with two more in quick succession. John had a great game in goals but special mention must go to Jim Brodie for his performance on wining the Bidone d’Oro award.
Reserve Men v Myrtleford lost 1-5
After a poor first half the Ressies were much better after the break. If this team wants to get better results they have to play out the full game. Chandra scored a good goal. Milky worked hard
up front and Subash and Yuba both had good games.
Senior Men v Myrtleford lost 0-3
The seniors were very good in the first half against a strong opponent. The team was unfortunate to be down by a goal at half time. After halftime the side did not play as well and conceded two more goals. The young players are improving each week. Tony Zahtila played strongly in his first game. Paul Kinning defended well and Sam Thorman and Lewis Parrett also played well.
