Presidents Report
Our round was played on Saturday last week as we headed to Melrose Park and took the points in all but one game. It was great to see so many former champions of Hotspurs there for the Laramee-Luders Foundation Cup, including Bill and June Luders. One thing I took away from the day was the character of all our members when supporting our team, at home or away. We keep our support and banter pretty clean and in good taste. This week when we are away to Twin City in what is always a challenging encounter, we expect the same great support.
With the colder weather well and truly here now, no doubt we will see the dreaded Covid put a few players and coaches in isolation. It has certainly rocked our Miniroos this week with so many coaches unavailable that we had to cancel training on Tuesday night.
This can be mitigated by more parents and players putting their hands up to assist over the next few weeks. If you are able to assist in any way, please let Aidan or Loz know, and they can show you the ropes.
Hope to see many of you on Sunday at Kelly Park.
Lost Property
Just a heads up that the process for finding any lost property at either Lambert or Aloysius Park is that it can be handed in to any member of the committee or to the volunteers at the canteen.

Div.1 Men
We went to Melrose Park on Saturday night to play for the Foundation Cup and it was great to have the Bill there to address the players before the game. Unfortunately we lost Zac Burhop before kick-off and this forced Eggy into the side after a 70 minute effort in the reserves. The first half was once again dominated by the home team early but we worked hard to force an own goal from the Melrose defence. Melrose were level with us again at the stroke of half time and then took the lead in the first minute of the second half and we conceded again in the 70th minute. We would like to thank our supporters who travelled from Sydney and Newcastle to be at the game and also our local loyal supporters for coming out on such a cold night. This loss leaves us in 8th position and we travel to Kelly park to play the 9th placed Twin City this weekend.

Div.2 Men v Melrose Won 10-0
This week we welcomed back Eggy and he made a huge difference from the start. We also had Zac Fordham drop back a grade and he showed he deserves a return to seniors with a Hatty before the half. Such a dominant performance saw us up 7-0 at half time. The Castles brothers were electric up front, both netting a brace each and also supplying each other some friendly advice about passing. We were then able to rest a few and Joel came out of goal for a quick cameo. With that performance we go top of the ladder. Keep it up lads.
Goals: Fordham x3, Jack and Leo 2 each, Mitch, Neil and Eggy.
Women Div.2 v Melrose Won 3-2
For Hotspurs this round started early with all Hotspurs V Melrose games taking place on Saturday. Whether be by accident or not, this allowed our mothers to sleep in and enjoy their Mother’s Day. With this change, thank you to everyone who was able to rearrange their schedules to provide a side ready to take on a tough match. Steph was fearless in the goals during the first half, but the Melrose aim was too good, with two goals slipping past in the first half. Yas volunteered in goals for the second half and showed off her amazing boot, which was also used to score a beautiful long shot in the first half. Nat and Ciara held up the centre back, protecting from the dangerous Melrose forward line. Seanna, Taylor, Shanaya, and Hayley worked well moving the ball out of defence and into the midfield, where Isla, Gabby, Isabel, and Christie put the team in teamwork, creating lots of chances up front. Maddie was able to take advantage of the midfield’s teamwork to score two spectacular goals to help give Spurs the win.

17 Girls v Myrtleford Won 13-0
A very one sided game but a pleasing display of movement, passing quality and composure in front of goal. The team played well throughout the game especially in the second half as the distributed quality passes across the field and finished well. Well done to Eloise in the back line who shut down any attacking plays into our half with the goalkeeper have very few touches on the day. Thanks to Hayley and Shanaya for “volunteering” to be goalkeeper in the day. This coming week is a bye weekend. Goal scorers: Ro – 7, Charlotte – 4, Seanna – 1 and Daisy – 1.

After a pretty poor performance at training on Thursday, it was a great to see the lads play some quality attacking football.
Pat Mason was on fire and has finally started to shoot first time and bagged a brace. Iggy and Harry also got a goal each. But it really started with some solid defending from the back 4 and Kohan in goals who lead them.
The energy and team work was probably the best it has been all year. The next two rounds will dictate how the rest of the year is, keep up to good work
Goals: Pat Mason x2, Iggy and Harry
14 Boys v Albury City Drew 1-1
We will probably class this as one that got away. We dominated possession and territory for most of the first half without producing a meaningful shot on goal. City only managed one attack which forced a fantastic save from Bailey.
City put us under pressure at the begining of the second half, scored the opener and then set about defending the lead. We again dominated possession but again were unable to force the goal we deserved. Cooper eventually equalised with a cracking strike from outside the box with 7 minutes to go. Unfortunately we could not grab a deserved winner and shared the points.
We face Twin City on Sunday at 2.40pm this week in Kelly Park
