MATCH REPORTS
Hotspurs Black U9’s V Albury City
This group of Top Gun wanna bees flew onto the
pitch with the mixtures set way too lean resulting in a sluggish take off
against Alb City Blue.
Goal keeper Brodee skilfully deflected some
very near strikes from City.
Team Commander Rolly encouraged the team
onward and upward. Now, in tight formation and working like a well oiled
machine they turned defence into attack taking the game to Cities goal. Alex A
was awesome in the mid field and was well supported by the two Emma’s and Liam.
In the final minutes of the first half Will H found an opportunity and shot one
toward goal only to be deflected at the last moment.
At half the time break the Commander gave the
team a pep talk, then with a full fuel load of oranges and snakes the team took
off with afterburners glowing. An evenly matched game ensued with the nail
biting action blazing at each end of the field. With specialist shooting by

Lost 2 - 3
After a strong team training session, it was decided that there was a
“need for speed” so we could become the “Top Gun” side.
The game got under way with some good work up front by Sam (Maverick)
and Andrew (Goose). Wodonga Panthers were attacking down the right wing but
were stopped by
The next 10 minutes were spent in our defensive half with Panthers
scoring 2 more goals before half time, it could have been more if it wasn’t for
some great saves from our goalie.
The second half saw the young Hotspurs team starting to play in their
positions and cause Panthers some concern. Sam scored a very good goal to
reduce the margin to one (2 – 3). Some good work by Alex (Merlin), Paddy
(Hollywood), Lincoln (Sundown), Caitlin (Carole) and Luke (Chipper) saw the
ball being delivered to the forwards for more chances of getting the score to 3
all, but in the end the team ran out of time.
This week saw the team play their positions very well. It was a great
effort.

What a brilliant team effort
from our under 11 topguns. They revved their engines, dodged the attack of the
opposition and soared to victorious heights out maneuvering SS&A with a
magnificent display of teamwork recording a 7 nil victory.
The first goal set the tone
with 3 of our forwards vying with each other to score. A nail biting 3 attempts
then finally success as the ball finally rolled into the net. The forwards were
ably supported by a strong midfield in setting the scene for a half time score
of 4/nil.
The defenders stood courageously
firm frustrating the opposition’s attacks and blocking their attempts to score.
It was pleasing to see fancy
footwork, wonderful throw-ins by Lucy, and forward planning as the whole team
worked their magic, weaving, dodging and marking their opponents with solid
passes to bring home the bacon. After many weeks encouraging team communication
our topgun
coach Terry, witness a team working in synchronized harmony.
Player of the match was topgun
Cam Beckingsale who ran his heart out. Two Goals were scored by Joel and Ryan

Under a blazing morning sun
Hotspurs and S.S&A faced each other like gunslingers of the old west. After
testing each other out to see whose nerve would crack first it was Hotspurs who
drew first blood. A lovely ball up the line from from Nida to Nick and back to
Nida set up Harry for a great goal. The
formula worked twice more with Jarrah capitalizing each time.
Hotspurs teamwork was superb
with Alex, Jamie and Nida keeping up a constant supply and Ben, Will and Chris
forming an impregnable line of defence. The precise passing of the team
continued to create opportunities and
When Tom and Michael entered
the fray both got involved immediately and Will enjoyed his move forward,
helping Harry with his third before putting one through himself.
It had been some sort of
shootout with S.S&A managing two nice goals but Hotspurs were the superior
marksmen on the day, running out winners 7- 2. Harry was clearly top gun with
three deadly bullets into the net.

V Myrtleford Won 6 - 0
Combine a slippery playing surface,
sluggish warm-up with a cold morning and you have the recipe for a slow
start. That’s what we had for the U13
boys in Myrtleford who were in slow motion for the first 15 minutes. Although they had plenty f shots it took a
while for one to find the back of the net.
After that, the pace picked up and passing became more accurate with
goals scored by Harry, Hodgie, Elijah and Nick M. A comfortable 6 – 0 victory in the end.

V SS&A Draw 1 - 1
Following an initial briefing by Wing Commander O’Riordon, 11 brave
fighters and 2 reinforcements of the Hotspurs 13th Squadron took to
the battlefield as clear skies set the scene for a
Many a bloody duel saw one-on-one ‘dog-fights’ and, at times, fast and
penetrating breakaways by the enemy moved the battle into home territory. 15
minutes into intensive attack ‘Nugget’ Nick collided with an enemy warrior to
send him spiralling downwards only to regain control and, with the sickening
sound of a direct hit echoing through the battlefield, ‘Fearless’ Fogarty took
the full impact of the missile with great personal sacrifice. Within minutes
‘Spitfire’ Shane hurtled down the wing flanked by two enemy fighters before
‘Machinegun’ Matt, going in for the ‘kill’, intercepted and returned the battle
to open skies.
Damage from friendly fire found the missile with a tear and once a panel
was removed it was found to be airworthy and returned to the battle. With the
taste of a kill in the air, new recruit ‘Wildman’ Wright opened the throttle to
intercept a number of enemy attacks. It was a fast enemy breakaway that saw the
attack move quickly to the home front and with the pressure of battle and
breaks in formation, the first enemy missile found its target – the first
casualty of the battle borne by the 13th.
A strong response by ‘Madman’ Marinov in partnership with ‘Reckless’
revenged the attack and returned fighting close to enemy lines. ‘Madman’ and
‘Reckless’, together with ‘Streak in’ Ethan took fighting deep into enemy
territory. Near misses by ‘Nugget’ gave the enemy something to think about
before the missile was replaced before the ½ time cease-fire.
Wing Commander O’Riordon with a hoarse growl from high octane mucous
fuel debriefed the squadron in preparation for the next sortie, and with the
cease-fire lifted, the squadron resumed formation.
A strong start saw all combatants attacking mercilessly and new gun
‘Attackin’ Jack engaged in many enemy skirmishes to frustrate their onslaught.
‘Reckless’ showed how he earnt his reputation by throwing himself into offence.
‘Spare No Prisoners’ Sam, always strong as defender of the home front, drew a
bad break behind own lines before ‘Killer’ Conner took a direct hit from above
with the pain visibly going to his head. In the dying moments of the battle,
‘Bomber’ Ben drew the enemy into an ambush to win a free rocket launch near
enemy lines. ‘Reckless’, with the taste of a kill in the air, then fired the
surface to air missile with point accuracy to evade the defence and strike to
the very heart of enemy lines. The second casualty of the battle, this time
borne by the enemy.
With casualties on both sides, opponent forces withdrew to regroup and
seek revenge on the battlefield at another time.

A cool start to the morning
saw us start slowly and under pressure for the first 15 minutes but to
their credit the boys worked their way into the game. We were down 1-0 but
made some good chances and unlucky not to equalise before half time. Soon
after the start of the second half we conceded another goal before hitting back
with a fine goal by Erik. Alas our discipline let us down and we conceded
another four goals ending up 6-1 losers. A bit flattering for SSA, all of the
boys put in and the result was disappointing. A big well done to Phil Robbie
and Max Humphries who stepped up and showed they were more than equal to the
task. No game now for two weeks but training as usual.

A confident start brought a
great team effort that ended up in a goal from Jazz to give us a 1-0 lead. Not long after Boomers scored to make it
1-1. Half time score ended one all. Second half saw a great attacking game but
the score at full time stayed 1-1.

A close game
which could have gone either way. The Spurs boys gave themselves every chance
to win but it was not to be. Chris Vidovic was great up front and scored a good
goal. Johnny Belgre was impressive in the defence. Great to have Kel and Nocci
back from injury. Special thanks to Zac and Paddy from the thirds who helped
out and played really well.

This was a tough game because
our opponents are on top of the ladder and we had a number of girls unavailable.
Despite this the Spurs worked very hard and played a very good game. Jelena's
determination and work rate continues to amaze everyone in our team, she is
really an inspiration! The younger girls Danielle and Rebecca were also great
and we thank them for helping out. Narelle, Tess and Emma played well in
defence.
Senior Men V SS&A Won 2 0
This was the
ultimate team performance. The boys were well organised and stuck to the jobs
they were given. Eleven players working together and supporting each makes
anything possible. Mills was outstanding again at sweeper. Briggs did not give
the League's leading goal scorer a touch. Rowan gave "stepover" Tudor
the complete touchup. D-Mac and Benny were great on the wings. Seato and
John-Cock were determined in the middle. Giggsy turned it on after halftime to
completely dominate. Tuksar and Archie
were very tough upfront. Drummo continued his stellar season with another clean
sheet. Well done boys, a pleasure to watch.
