LIFE MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
- The club member would have given a minimum of ten years’ service to the club
- The club member would have contributed across more than one role within the club.
- Such roles would include executive and committee positions within the club. Contributions as a player, coach, team manager and volunteer assistance in such areas as canteen, equipment or ground preparation would also be included in consideration for life membership.
- The contribution of the club member has promoted the general objects of the club in providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all club members.
Application for Life Membership need to be submitted in written form to the club committee.
The application needs to outline the reasons for the application as per the above criteria.
The application needs to be moved and seconded by a club member.
Life membership is awarded at the club AGM.
2023 – Brad Howard
Brad has been involved with Hotspurs for many years, and played in a number of junior teams in the 1980s and 1990s.
Brad’s involvement as a coach is significant.
He began coaching in the Mini-Roos program and has coached a number of junior and senior teams over recent years.
On many occasions Brad has coached multiple club teams in the one season. He has also coached Albury Wodonga Football Association rep-teams.
Brad became President of Hotspurs five years ago, and has led the Club through some difficult years with sensibility and great enthusiasm.
Under Brad’s leadership, Hotspurs continues to be the region’s powerhouse club.
Congratulations Brad on your award of Life Membership of Albury Hotspurs.
2023 – Andrew Harbick
Andrew had been associated with Albury Hotspurs for almost 50 years.
He began as a junior in 1975 and was playing in the Senior Men’s team in 1979 at the age of sixteen.
It’s estimated Andrew has played more than 350 Senior games for Spurs.
His playing career was incredible.
Andrew played in the 1980 Senior Men’s Cup winning team and 20 years later was part of the Senior Men’s team which won the League Championship.
In between he won the League Championship in 1991 as the player/coach and was a member of the 1999 Cup winning team.
Andrew also coached the Senior Men in 1992 and was named Star Player in 1999.
Andrew’s long commitment to Albury Hotspurs over such a long period of time makes him a worthy recipient of Life Membership.
2023 – Bill Corkett
Bill became involved with Spurs in the early 1990s when his two sons and daughter played for the club.
Bill immediately started helping around the club.
He became groundsman and marked the grounds each week for more than ten years.
He was always first at the ground on match day setting up, and was often the last to leave, after packing the gear away.
Bill is a handy tradesman and could also be found repairing and making equipment for the club.
He also managed a number of the teams, assisted in the canteen and was named Club Person of the Year in 1999.
Bill has devoted a lot of time to Hotspurs over many years and richly deserves Life Membership.
2021 – Phil Barrett
Phil has been associated with the club for sixteen years.
During this time Phil has unselfishly made a great contribution to Albury Hotspurs.
Phil became associated with the club when his son Robert joined as a junior player in 2005. Phil immediately become heavily involved with Spurs by coaching Robert’s team for several years. Later on Phil contributed further by coaching the clubs Thirds and Reserve Mens teams.
Phil’s willingness to contribute in whatever role he can has become a feature of his relationship with the club.
He has refereed and run the sideline on numerous occasions when required.
He is the first person to arrive for any working bee and his ability as a tradesman has meant he has donated time and goods unselfishly to the club.
In recent years he has spent many hours in the canteen both on match day and during the week serving and maintaining the canteen.
Phil has now become the driving force behind the clubs attempts to improve our facilities by lobbying and organising the multitude of bodies needed to pull together such a venture.
Phil Barrett has been loyally serving Albury Hotspurs for a very long time and is fully deserved of being recognised as a life member of this club.
2019 – Justin Wild
Justin has been associated with the club for almost thirty years.
During this time Justin has unselfishly made a great contribution to Albury Hotspurs.
Justin started playing with Hotspurs as a teenager. He went on to play seventy five senior games with the club. Incredibly he did not score a single goal in all those senior games but he was a first class defender. Justin played in the 1993 senior men’s cup final where the first final was abandoned due to fading light unfortunately the team was beaten in the replay the following week.
It is off the field that Justin has also made a huge contribution to Albury Hotspurs. Justin has always volunteered to assist wherever he can. He has coached many teams over the years. He was the Reserve Men’s coach in 2002 and has had great success in recent years coaching our wonderful girl’s teams. Justin’s commitment to the development of female football has seen him take on our Reserve Women’s team this year.
Justin was also instrumental in the construction of the floodlights on Aloysius Park when he supervised their erection in 2003.
Justin continues to make a major contribution to our club by taking on the position as club secretary this year.
Justin has been loyally serving Albury Hotspurs for a very long time and is fully deserved of being recognised as a life member of this club.
2019 – John Irvine
John has been associated with the club for seventeen years.
During this time John has unselfishly made a great contribution to Albury Hotspurs.
John’s contribution as a player during this time has been enormous. He has played an incalculable number of games as a goalkeeper playing matches with the Senior, Reserves and Thirds Men as well as our over 35’s team. John has often played multiple games on one day to help out the club.
Incredibly John’s deeds as a player are surpassed by his contribution as a coach.
John began by coaching the club Reserve Men’s team to our only League championship in 2004. Since then he has continually coached Senior Men’s and Reserve Men’s teams and more recently the Over 35 side. John has also assisted in coaching Mini-Roos teams. The amount of hours John has put into this area over the years would be staggering.
Being a goalkeeper John also took a special interest in assisting many of the keepers who have played with Hotspurs over the years.
Also it should be noted that John through his employment at Bakers Motors has been a major factor in fostering the excellent financial support that company has given Hotspurs over many years.
John Irvine has been loyally serving Albury Hotspurs for a very long time and is fully deserved of being recognised as a life member of this club.
2018 – Sandy Belgre
2017 – Narelle Tuksar
Narelle has been associated with the club for over twenty years.
During this time Narelle has unselfishly made a great contribution to Albury Hotspurs.
Narelle began as a player with Hotspurs in 1999 when she joined the clubs Senior Women’s team. She was a member of our most successful women’s team which won the League Championship in 2000 and the League /Cup double in 2002. Narelle continued as a senior player until 2010. In recent years she came back to play with our Reserve Women’s team when they were struggling for player numbers.
As a Hotspurs player Narelle always displayed great determination and sportpersonship and represented the club with great distinction.
Narelle helped to form the Hotspurs fundraising committee in 2010 and has assisted in accumulating much needed funds for our club.
Narelle was organizer and prime mover of our chocolate drives which raised thousands of dollars for Hotspurs. She ran many weekly raffles at home games and also helped organize many club functions including the Senior and Junior presentations and other social functions.
Narelle Tuksar has been loyally serving Albury Hotspurs for a very long time and is fully deserved of being recognised as a life member of this club.
2017 – Matthew Townsend
Matt has been associated with the club for nineteen years.
During this time Matt has unselfishly made a great contribution to Albury Hotspurs.
Matt was a ten year old when he started playing with Spurs. He had great success in our junior teams winning League Championships and Cup finals in 1999 and 2003. Matt also played in our Thirds team which won the League and Cup double in 2004.
As a Hotspurs junior Matt always displayed great determination and sportsmanship. Even as a junior player he would assist by coaching some the of the club young teams.
Matt played his first senior game in 2006 and has now played 124 Senior Men’s games and has scored 36 goals.
Matt has also contributed to our club in recent years by coaching the Hotspurs Senior and Reserve Women’s teams.
Matt has also assisted the club by organizing our Trivia Nights and this year was the Hotspurs Senior Registrar.
Matthew Townsend has been loyally serving Albury Hotspurs for a very long time and is fully deserved of being recognised as a life member of this club.
2016 – John Belgre
John joined Hotspurs as a player in 1992 at seven years of age.
In 1999 he was a member of the hotspurs fifteens team which won both the League Championship and the Cup final in that year.
In 2004 John was a member of the Reserve Men’s side which won the League Championship.
In 2012 he completed twenty years as a player with Albury Hotspurs.
John has also coached the same Hotspurs junior squad for seven consecutive years. The team won the cup final as under tens in 2010 and this year the squad was the undefeated League Champions in the sixteen age group.
John has also been the Albury Hotspurs recorder for the past six years and this year managed the Senior Men’s team.
John has been a great contributor to the club over a long period of time and fully deserves the award of Life Membership to the Albury Hotspurs Soccer Club.
2015 – Greg Harrison
Greg has been associated with the club for over twenty years. His children Mark, Josh, James and Danielle have all played with Hotspurs over that period.
During these many years Greg has unselfishly made a great contribution to Albury Hotspurs.
He managed the Reserve Mens team for a number of years including in 2004 when that team won the League championship.
Greg served on the club executive for seven years contributing greatly to events and functions which were organized by Hotspurs during that time.
Greg has worked in the club canteen for over ten years. In the last five Greg has managed the canteen. This entails purchasing goods during the week and running the canteen on club home days. This is an important role within our club as the canteen contributes greatly to the clubs financial stability as it raises over $10,000 each year.
Greg Harrison has been loyally serving Albury Hotspurs for a very long time and is fully deserved of being recognised as a life member of this club.

2011 – Kevin Briggs
Kevin has been associated with the club since 1993. It was in this year that Kevin’s eldest son Daniel started playing with the club. Kevin’s other children Luke, Jessica and Rebecca all currently play with Hotspurs.
During these nineteen years Kevin has unselfishly continued to make an enormous contribution to Albury Hotspurs.
He has coached numerous club teams and also coached Albury –Wodonga representative teams.
Kevin has also managed many Hotspurs teams and is currently managing the senior mens team which he has done for several years.
Kevin is always willing to help the club wherever he can and is often filling the role of linesman during games and assisting wherever he can.
For nineteen years Kevin Briggs has been serving Albury Hotspurs and is fully deserved of being recognised as a life member of this club.

2003 – Kelvin Davies
Kelvin joined Albury Hotspurs in 1988 after the collapse of the Border Soccer Club where he played in the competitive Melbourne Metropolitan League having previously been a Melrose junior from 1975.
Kelvin went on to amass 417 Div.1 Men’s appearances scoring 74 goals as a Hotspurs player. The image attached of Kelvin with his two sons McKenas and Brodie was the day of his 400th Div.1 Men’s match. He also scored from the penalty spot that day.
Kelvin was also player coach of the Div.1 Men’s team 2001-02.
He has been involved with many fundraising activities for Hotspurs over the years including the famous Trivia Nights that were hugely popular.
Kelvin is a dedicated club person and thoroughly deserves his life membership.
Since being recognised with life membership in 2003, Kelvin has continued his commitment to the club both as a player, coach and a committee member.
After many Div.1 and then Div.2 games he can be still found playing in the Over 35s on a Sunday morning.
Kelvin coached his son Brodie’s team from Miniroos through to junior 16 Boys over 10 years.
Kelvin, with the support of wife Kellie, has been instrumental in the club’s online presence. Kelvin continues to maintain the club’s Facebook page, update the club website with weekly content, news and match reports.
Kelvin became the club Registrar in 2016 and is still doing this role to date. This is no small effort as Hotspurs has been and is still the biggest club in the area with 300 to 400 registrations per season.
Kelvin also took on the role as the club’s game day scheduler in 2020.
Kelvin has also taken a leading role in the set-up and management of the Albury Hotspurs Summer Over 45s Competition and can be seen marking the lines mid-week as required.
Kelvin’s business K2 Design also supplies the playing strips and club apparel and is a sponsor of the club.

In January 2023, Tony, the club’s first life member passed away.
Tony’s contribution to Albury Hotspurs and Albury Wodonga Football was enormous.
Tony played a huge role in the formation of Hotspurs. In 1973 he was club’s first secretary and treasurer. He was also the President of the Albury Wodonga Football Association from 1974 to 1979.
Tony was a visionary, and a major force in the formation of the Riverina Football Association which allowed local players to play representative football.
Tony also financially supported Hotspurs for more than 30 years through Attack Sportswear a company he founded in Albury.
