Summer 7-A-Side football
Season 2023
Program:
The organising management have decided on the format for this season.
- 8 Team competition (Hotspurs, Diamonds, Heart, Alb City, Boomers, St Pats, St Pats Ladies, Melrose Ladies).
- Start date: Friday 13 October.
- Kick-off: 6PM and 6PM and 7PM from 10 November.
- Teams play each other once only, 7 games.
- 8th game, final round to be played 15 December (season will not run into 2024)
- 8th and last round will be fixtures according to ladder position
1 v 2, 3 v 4, 5 v 6, 7 v 8. Results of update final table and trophies etc. presented on the night along with BBQ.
- Rounds 1 and 2 we be split over two weeks each (to allow for limited daylight hours) Two games played and two byes each week 13, 20, 27 Oct and 3 Nov.
We thank you for your commitment and understanding of this structure and hope you all enjoy your evenings. The canteen will be open for refreshments.
Change rooms will be open if required, HOME change room for Females only please. AWAY change for men.
Games are 25 minute halves with 5 minute half time.
Unlimited interchange, Ref to be advised prior to making sub.
Special Rules
- No slide tackles
- No hard/laced shots on goal from inside penalty area, side foot shots only.
- Off side to be judge by Centre Referee (lines AR not required but can be used if any are available)
- Can not score from inside your defensive half (own goals only)
- Goalkeeper can not kick ball from hand, ball to be thrown or put on ground and passed out of box.
Who: Men’s Over 45s competition, Women 30+ years most welcome. Mixed or unmixed teams.
Where: Albury Hotspurs, Aloysius Park, South Albury.
Note: Any changes to fixtures due to weather etc. will be posted on Hotspurs Facebook page around 4pm day of fixture, Friday or before.
Format: is 7 a-side with unlimited substitutions.

Summer 7v7 FAQs
Do I need an FFA number to play?
Yes, you will need a FFA number to compete in Summer Football. All players must be registered via the Play Football system.
Why do I need to pay a registration fee to play?
Winter & Summer Football are independent competitions. Each players registration fee for the summer competition is an upfront fee that covers administration charges, referees’ fees, line marking, ground hire & lighting.
Why can’t I register online?
Registration will open once a sanctioned starting date & final cost is obtained.
How do I pay for Summer Football?
An online payment is the only way that is accepted through the Play Football website.
Is there an extra charge relating to referees for Summer Football?
No. All of the referee costs are included in your registration fees.
When does the season commence and end?
The scheduled first night of competition is planned for the early to mid October and to end December or January pending team numbers
What is the format of Summer Football?
7-a-side with 25 minutes halves on a smaller pitch, with a 5-minute break between.
How many players are in a team?
A Team can have more than 12 registered players however, a maximum of 12 players permitted on a team sheet per match.
Who arranges our playing outfit?
Each team will need to organise their own playing strip.
How do I access the weekly draw and points table?
Fixtures and results will be published on GameDay and a direct link posted on our website in the Summer Sevens tab along with other relevant material concerning the competition.
I don’t have a team to play in, can I register?
Yes, you can. We will put you in touch with team managers & you can then register with that squad.
I haven’t played for quite a while. Can I relive my ‘glory days’?
You will not be alone. We encourage players who wish to return to the game. Our suggestion is ‘Don’t push yourself too hard, too early’ & pace yourself. A little bit of preparation before the season starts & a warm up before the game is essential.
